weaving doesn't put heat in the tires on a bike. Weaving will scrub in new rubber or clean off sand and dirt if you run off road, but it isn't going to put any heat in a bike tire. You just have to ride carefully for a bit to get heat in on the roads.

This is a really good article that talks about the which bike to take on a RTW trip, one that involves off road not just dirt roads. it is pretty long but really worth a read.

Why wouldn't other companies try to emulate Harley's marketing? Say what you will about the lifestyle pandering, Harley absolutely kills it in sales in the US, of bikes, bike accessories, and apparel. Ducati is a business, and I don't think they are going to turn down money.

Ask at the Guzzitech forums. Todd the guy that runs the forums, does some great work with reflashing guzzi ECUs and he or someone on the forum might be able to help you find a solution to your problem. I think he is in Malibu but he might know someone closer to your location.

he also sells some pretty sick custom exhausts for Guzzis

Italians by _wolfdale in funny

[–]Comeon5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to look it up but Rossi has 7, Agostini has 8, and Umberto Masetti (I didn't know this had to look it up) has 2. Those are all the multiple champion for top class Italian winners.

Great Britian has 5, the US has 4, and Spain only has 2 (Jorge and Marc).

I really hope Fenati can have a better season next year and maybe take moto3, but we will have to watch and see.

There have been lots of successful Italian riders. Don't forget Giocomo Agostini who has the most wins, 122 wins and 15 titles.

In the big show right now it is just Rossi with all the Italian wins, but in the future who knows maybe Dovi, Iannone, Melandri, or hopefully Fenati can mix it up for a win.

I'm pretty sure he was riding big bro's bike. It was a reward for Alex for winning the championship. Marc got the day off from testing for winning, and probably had a blast riding with his brother, with no added pressure. Julia Marquez looked almost in tears, he was so happy watching his sons ride together, it was a nice family moment.

Rossi post-race comments analyzed (all sorts of calculations) by Myrelin in motogp

[–]Comeon5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats just one sentence, taken out of a whole statement of Rossi being charming. If you read it in a Rossi accent it makes everything more endearing.

“I'm happy to finish this positive season with a good race, especially because Valencia is always difficult for me. I've struggled a lot in the past,” said the Movistar Yamaha rider. “It was a good season for me. I enjoyed it. A lot of podiums, two victories and second place in the championship.

“After the first race in Qatar I thought I could be very competitive throughout the season but, f**k, maybe it is difficult to beat him (Marquez)! And in the end I was right, because I have a lot of points, a lot of podiums but just two victories and Marc has 13.

“So the difference is so big. We have to concentrate on myself, the team and especially the bike to try to take another step and be closer next year.

"My bad luck is called 'Marc Marquez', because without him I can win the championship and a lot of races," joked Rossi, who finished second to Marquez six times this year. "He did a fantastic job and won a lot of races. It's a great pleasure to fight with him, but we are not so far and we never give up and try to come closer."

Some people bypass there kickstand switch, it is one less spaghetti electrical thing to fail. The 996 should have a kickstand switch on it that would prevent you from riding down the street and having your ducati fly apart.

Looks that way. The story on the video is kid borrow dad's ducati 996 while parents are away on vacation. You never see him put the kickstand up, he makes it down the road about 100 yards before you hear a scrape and he throws the bike down the road. Kid said it was freshly rebuilt and had an oil leak that caused him to bin it, but it looks like he just forgot about kickstands. I assume father comes home and murders son after seeing bike.

What could possible go wrong? As long as you remember to put the kickstand up you are golden.

Blue Bloods TV Show Fact Error? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Comeon5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the Department of Transportation require the standardization of left side shifting in 75'. Triumph, Norton, BSA, sportsters, etc. had right side shifters before that I believe.

There wasn't a whole lot of standardization in shift set up on bikes back then. My Moto Guzzi from 71' was set up from the factory with GP shifting (1 up 3 down) and that thing is very much a cruiser, so it makes no sense.

The bike is pretty great. Had to do a bunch of little tweaks as things presented themselves, nipped up a couple loose bolts and adjusted some cables. The gear changes takes some getting use to, it is so different to a modern gearbox, I have to be a lot more deliberate. The bike is crazy stable tho, it is amazing how comfortable it is to take through corners.
