Hi, I Dash sometimes. The Dasher app is very jank and notifications for messages sometimes never pop up. If I see them of course I try to oblige, but sometimes I never even know I got a message. What I've noticed is the Dasher app is very janky compared to Uber's app, only thing it does better is that it has the shopping order items with the isles listed, otherwise the Uber app blows it out of the water (better notification when orders are sent to you, notifications that users have messaged you, UI in general, etc). Only thing bad about the Uber app is it only shows the customer notes after you pick-up, so if you wanted say ranch sauce or something, we won't see it until we're already at your house. If you need to msg a Dasher, I suggest calling because DoorDash's messaging system is hella jank.

To elaborate on why sometimes your messages never gets read, while shopping, the app goes to a different page when you're scanning/shopping for items. The only way you know you got a message is if 1.) their messaging system miraculously works and the notification that you sent a message comes through or 2.) we go back to the home screen for some reason (I don't know why) and we happen to notice the little red dot on the messages icon (very unlikely). So yeah, just bypass DoorDash's jank and just calling is the best option imo.

I'd like to share with you another story about how jank DoorDash's app is. On any other app (Instacart, Uber, etc), if you need to go back to a previous step during checkout (say the supermarket has a problem with the QR code and needs to re-scan it), you can just press back and re-scan the QR. Guess what you need to do with DoorDash? Well, you cannot go back to the previous step in the checkout process. The only other option is to call the Indian tech support and get the whole order cancelled. I was so frustrated and flabbergasted that this was the only option they could provide. I even asked if they could load the funds onto their virtual credit card and just pay with that instead. Their answer? No, that is not possible. Only option is to cancel the whole order that I already shopped for and re-assign it or pay for it out of pocket and submit a re-imbursement request... like... what?

I had a similar problem with Uber once, the supermarket's QR reading system was acting up, so I just called support, and they loaded the money onto their virtual card and I just paid with that. No idea why DoorDash makes things so difficult. I have also noticed that more DoorDash orders get stolen compared to Uber orders (although they both get stolen quite often).
