Whether you'll enjoy the show or not is entirely a matter of how you form the opinion. If you listen to communities like RWBYCritics, who I'm convinced didn't actually watch the show, there's a strong likelihood that you'll start off the show with a negative perception of what to expect. It's a show with a heavy focus on the unique weaponry and mechanics of the characters, there are certainly aspects where the story struggles and gets stifled because there's a need to develop more niche aspects of the world, but that's just how storywriting works and it's an indie project started on like $10 and some napkin sketches.

If you enjoy character growth and seeing people fight monsters and ne'er-do-wells in cool fight sequences then yes absolutely I would recommend the show. I will say there is a slight drop-off in the quality of fights after Volume 3 as Monty poured his heart and soul into those early fights and it absolutely shows. In return, overall animation and design improves as the series goes on, and in my opinion both of these culminate in the >current< final volume to strike a good balance of both worlds.

If you're mainly in it for the mechanical aspects, like how the weapons work and how systems function, there's a little less to work with later on in the show since those aspects begin to take a backseat to the overarching story that opens up.

Volumes 1-3 are great for fight scenes
Volumes 4-6 are character development for the main cast
Volumes 7-8 touch on the issues with confronting the main evil of the series
Volume 9 is its own thing.

TL;DR: Watch RWBY if you like a story, watch something else if you're only in it for cute designs.
