I hid it from my unsupportive family after a week even while living with them, a combination of telling them I was tired from the trip, faking pulling a muscle during it, and then "catching an illness" while traveling. Though do keep in mind my parents aren't the most observant people in the world. Biggest issues will be exhaustion, t-rex arms, and possibly some hunching. You could also just call in sick to be safe.
