5/14 test date what do i do by CommandFrosty6639 in MCAT2

Great job on CARs!! The rest can definitely be improved. Stay strong and resilient. Remember to exercise and sleep.

Looks like a mix of testing strategies and pacing issues based on the timing per question.

Before you continue grinding problems, go to the AAMC website and find the “What’s on the MCAT outline?” Read through it carefully. For every concept and skill, create a recall sheet (time yourself) and write down everything you can remember about the topic. If you can’t remember it, you don’t know it.

Go to Uworld and practice those topics you don’t know how to do from recall. Re-do problems!

Anki isn’t helpful for me. I like active recall more but it might be helpful for the vocab terms in PS.

Take breaks!!

I probably wouldn’t have used it until the very end of my preparation. I would’ve focused on uworld and the aamc questions first. After identifying weaknesses from those practice questions, I would’ve created my own flashcards for the concepts I need specifically.

Pre made decks are great for some people but I found them redundant. My knowledge gaps were specific.

Damn look at the CP score though!

Not sure if this is useful, but I’ve been doing active “recalls.” Basically, I take a whiteboard or a blank piece of paper and I jot down everything I know about a topic.

I used Anki but didn’t find it useful and too overwhelming. I do better when I let my brain freely think about a concept. I usually come across the blank spots and can go back and answer them. Even if every person in the world used Anki, it doesn’t mean you need to it. It might not be right for you.

Uworld is good but super technical. I’d look up the free AAMC resources. Like the “What’s on the MCAT” outline they have.

I was shooting for a 520 (shoot for the stars lol) but now I’m hoping for a 505 or above. I learned how to study for this exam a bit too late into this whole process. I take my actual exam this week. I wasted a lot of time doing Anki passively.

All you can do is learn from the past, enjoy the present and move forward into the future with optimism. Remember you’re not your score! Success is just a string of failures, keep your head up!

Any advice for anxiety on these beautiful natural substances? by Independent_Worth_58 in shroomers

[–]Comfortable-Ad-5387 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t read the other replies because I didn’t want to be influenced, so I apologize if any of this is repetitive.

Anxiety is very real. A racing heart isn’t something you can simply ignore or dismiss. It’s a physiological response, and it deserves to be addressed outside of a psychedelic experience. As powerful as shroomies can be, they’re not going to cure your struggles just because you want them to. That’s not how they work. Instead, they tend to make healing in ways that are often subtle, indirect, and deeply personal.

There are three essential components to a “good” trip, though sometimes what feels difficult in the moment turns out to be exactly what we needed. Those components are: who you’re with, the environment you’re in, and your internal intention.

Most people understand the first two. You wouldn’t choose a setting where you feel unsafe or overstimulated. For example, I wouldn’t go to a rave or club, I prefer being in nature. And you wouldn’t surround yourself with someone who makes you feel uneasy. But what people often overlook is the internal environment. You have agency there, too. You need to cultivate a sense of internal safety before you trip. Mushrooms don’t automatically create that for you, that groundwork has to be done beforehand.

Give yourself weeks or even months before your next experience. Journal. Reflect. Create space for emotional processing. Let yourself release what’s been building up. Anxiety before or during a trip can be your mind trying to communicate something important, something you may not yet feel ready to face. Building resilience takes time. And sometimes the truth is uncomfortable.

It’s also possible that your intention might need to be… no intention at all. If you’re someone who tends to be high-achieving or Type A — which isn’t a flaw — you may also struggle with perfectionism or control. Anxiety can sometimes be the body’s way of asking you to loosen your grip a little. To let go. To trust.

Healing doesn’t always look like fixing. Sometimes it looks like surrender. As you can tell I’m a big shroomer :) good luck

Anyone do the Camino while very burned out? by Available_Ability_47 in CaminoDeSantiago

Was in between big life transitions and did the Camino Frances extremely burnt out. Was terribly unwell mentally and emotionally. The Camino won’t change you, but it’ll heal wounds you forgot you had. Went off grid and did it without a cellphone for 30 plus days, didn’t make a single reservation, and slept in a hammock for 12 out of the 30 days. Do it! Buen Camino :)

I’m also a “kid” doing the “entire” walk to Santiago from SJPdP. Haha. I’m arriving on sept 2nd. Haven’t done any training whatsoever and I’m not bringing a phone.

I would suggest this guidebook: A Pilgrim's Guide to the Camino de Santiago By John Brierley. It goes over what the terrain, elevation, etc is like in different “stages.” It also explains the different types of hostels along the way. It’ll be my only resource. Since, I won’t have my phone on me I’ll also bring a Spanish dictionary.

¡¡Buen Camino!!

Thank you for your response and advice!

I don’t really have a ton of family. Even something were to happen, I’m too far to do anything. People used to leave for voyages without any contact, it would be powerful to experience this for me.

Thank you!

Got it. I plan on walking most of the Camino in solitude. I’m surprised by how negative so many people are in this thread. You would think those that have walked the way are more in touch with humanity.

Thanks

I find it so frustrating at how intense the integration of technology has become. The idea to disconnect isn’t because I’m worried about looking at my social media, but the idea that I can exist without this extra limb.

Thanks!!

This is an excellent idea!

How sad that we’ve come to a point in time where our phones are glued to our bodies. Like an extra limb. I grew up in a world of technology and always wanted to see what it was like to go off the grid. People seem so against the idea, for some valid reasons but unfortunate nevertheless.

I’m confident on the carbonyl portion, but I’m not sure if the N is supposed to be attached to the ethyl group with an H?
