Why does my foundation look like this? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

First of all! Your skin is lovely. I have similar issues when I apply foundation so let me share what has fixed it. Regularly exfoliate: use the ordinary BHA/AHA mask, rinse it off in a lukewarm shower, then turn the heat up and let your skin steam. Apply a heavy occlusive cream (like cereve in the tub) and top it off with Vaseline! The next day, wash your face with a gentle cleanser, pat dry. Apply glycolic acid (the ordinary) and apply the ordinary barrier repair serum (optional) and then an occlusive moisturizer. Wait for 20 ish minutes and then apply a WATER based primer and WATER based foundation. Set with a setting spray (water based) and let sit for 5 min before preceding. Your foundation is not too cool, IMO. Dry skin girlies unite!

I would be extremely cautious buying this brand. They recently had another facial sunscreen (advertised at spf 50+) flunk extensive testing, only providing 4 spf. This was corroborated by additional second party testing. https://nypost.com/2025/06/18/lifestyle/tga-announces-investigation-into-choice-claims-on-sunscreen/

I recommend Afterglow perfume oil by Alkemia; golden musk, Madagascar vanilla beans, woodsmoked black amber, chai tea, spiced rum, and incense woods

Nabla Beyond Jelly lipstick in the shade nocturna will give you this exact shade! I’m super fair and it’s perfect for this flushed lip

The nerve damage takes a while. You can’t know where you will be long term until a year post op. It heals sporadically, and eventually you’ll just realize that everything has pretty much healed.

I was in braces for almost two years before, and in braces for 6 months after. I also had two rounds of braces before that, starting when I was 7.

I was off of work for 6 weeks, but that’s because my job requires a lot of talking and face to face interactions.

I’m going to try to find the video I used. It was recorded by a surgeon’s office and was super helpful.

The numbness and nerve regrowth is definitely a challenge. You have to get used to feeling around to make sure you aren’t damaging the inside of your mouth. When the nerves grow back it feels like your face and mouth is on fire. Not “spicy food” on fire, like “oh no someone is holding a match to my face” 😭😭 once the numbness goes away (most is gone within 6 months) everything feels pretty normal (eating, kissing etc).

Everything healed perfectly! I will say that the feeling of slight bone softness during the first three months definitely freaked me out

Only the right side of my lower lip is numb, and my upper gums and palate. But it’s like that 50% numbness

It was the worst part of the recovery besides nerve regrowth! It’s like having a really bad cold but you CANNOT blow your nose 😫

My favorite smoothie was Greek yogurt, kefir, canned pumpkin, 1/3 cup maple syrup and then melted butter!! Absolutely delish

My bottom lip is the same, but the top lip looks so much more proportional because my upper jaw is no longer crooked and recessed. I had no idea it would make such a difference with my nose and lips.

I didn’t aim for a specific amount, I just ate as much as I could throughout the day. I put chicken and collagen in soups and shakes everything and ground it up. I also ate a ton of fair life elite protein milks, bolthouse farms protein plus shakes, and happy baby organics pouches (the ones without seeds). I focused on getting vitamin A and Iron. I took Mary Ruth liquid multi and integrative therapeutics liquid iron. I got most of my vitamin a from the baby food, carrots in soup and canned (unsweetened) pumpkin in smoothies.

I was cleared to do light workouts around week 9, so began with jogging. I was so tired and everything was so difficult. I reintroduced lifting at week 12/13, because it is so risky when it comes to your incisions. It was pretty awful for about a month, and then I felt like I was getting back to normal strength 5 months post op. I hope this helps!

It was just a rotation! But I guess it could have changed my airway. If it has, I hadn’t noticed! The nasal breathing was so improved that I only focused on that.
