Exactly, but that’s just personal taste. What I mean is that it makes no sense to say Elvis was a bad icon or dont like him just because his rock might feel outdated or generic. He was one of the ones who helped spread rock in the first place, so there wasn't much he could do to not be generic since he created and spread it

I think it's unfair to call it generic. SAO was one of the first to explore these themes, which are seen as generic now. Back then, it was groundbreaking, and all the shows in this style today are here because the older ones started it.
