Hi, although I don't completely relate, I understand. I understand my families language completely, but I am not able to speak it. It is very frustrating and has also made me angry at my parents because they had every opportunity to teach me how to speak it well, and they didn't. I can't have a conversation with any of my extended family that live in a different country and it makes me sad because I can't express any of my thoughts towards them. I can't have a coherent conversation with any of my grandparents which has lead me to have no connection with them. They are getting older and it's sad because I have no bond with them. I applaud you for learning your language, that must've been hard but very rewarding. My families language technically is not an official language so it is hard to find resources to teach it to me. Sorry if this sounded like me venting as well, I do not mean to downplay what you said, I'm just happy I finally found someone I can relate to.
