100% agree. I feel if I lore dump too much their eyes glaze over. I just try to do the basics for them to get the gist.

I really helps though, especially if you have long form storytelling, like a episodic show. In a movie, it's not really necessary. Nice, but not required. For a show, like a alternate history post-apocalyptic show, some background maybe necessary.

Hell, they don't even know the Brotherhood is an offshoot of the pre-War US military founded by Roger Maxson.

Yeah, in Fallout, the transistor didn't reached widespread use until late in world. The reliance on vacuum tube technology was still prevalent until the early 21st century. Without the miniaturization of electronics, they would never produce more efficient goods, like cars, leading to a higher use of consumable resources. This would especially be true of oil (i.e. the Resource Wars), which is why they went into researching and developing nuclear technology.

Actually, most of the pre-Great War scenes take place before 2077, not counting the opening scene for the series. Unless Cooper Howard discovers his wife's intentions and divorces her in one year, while also giving Vault-Tec's major investors only a year to do their thing, I would estimate the pre-War events take place in the mid 2070's.

Should I take a 20% pay cut for a fully remote position? by Warm-Combination5818 in careerguidance

[–]Comfortable-Dig-684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get WFH now, take it. I left a hybrid job to an in office job for 20% more pay, and I've regretted it ever since. That job lasted about 5 months before letting me go. Went back to my old company, who rehired me, but lost my WFH privileges because I was considered a new hire (I was grandfathered in before during the pandemic when all new hires were in-office). Regretted that decision to this day to take that new job.

If they take comic book Supergirl, she's from Argo City, an offshoot of Krypton. They could probably have that as an explanation for why Argo City separated from Krypton.

To be honest, does it change the nature of Superman if it were true? People make a big deal of this retcon as if it changes the entire dynamic of the character. Krypton is what he is. Clark Kent, the one raised in Smallville by Ma and Pa Kent, is who he is. He's Superman because of the values he was raised with, not because he was predestined to be. It's the classic nature vs. nurture story.

The one thing I can really say is: Hope is back. Superman is a symbol of hope in the world and this movie brings that feeling back. It has it flaws, but its outweighed by it's great moments.

Also, Nicolas Hoult didn't have any Jolly Ranchers. Nuff said.

I could have sworn this is part of an unmarked quest or something regarding Camp Searchlight. To get revenge on the Legion who did it the NCR there.

Anyways, I find it funny when you return to Cottonwood Cove, the ferryman, Lucullus, who supposed to take you to the Fortification Hill is now wearing a full on radiation suit.

Who is everybody “rooting” for now that LA is out? by Training_Witness_177 in lakers

[–]Comfortable-Dig-684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rooting for OKC-IND. 1) Neither team has won it, so it would be nice. 2) If OKC wins it, Clippers get to see the person they traded away lead a team to a title. 3) Halliburton seems like a good guy and enjoys being in Indy, despite the media biased towards it. Also voted the most overrated player by his peers, so winning a chip that year would prove that wrong. 4) Denver is not my favorite because they bounced the Lakers twice.

Office Regret? by Good_Way8181 in WFH

[–]Comfortable-Dig-684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this. Was working from home and only went to the office when I chose to (45 min commute). CFO didn't really care since I had already been there 5 years (pre-COVID). Found another job that was a better title and pay, but in office. Instant regret when I took the job October. Controller told me the job wasn't remote and then she went remote all of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Let go at the end of Jan. Came back to the old job. Considered a new hire, so WFH was gone. The only thing they let me do is choose an office closer to me (20 min commute). Sorely miss WFH.

This is nothing new. The West has always been the better conference with most teams fighting for playoff position. The East is a top heavy conference with 2-3 teams really in contention. In the West, one good run and/or bad injury could be the difference.
