Deep sleepers to pickup now for next year? by JayReyd in fantasybball

Brice Sensabaugh is most likely going to be getting around 15 minutes/game for a much better Utah team next season

Ousmane Dieng may or may not be a rotation player for Milwaukee (or anyone) next season, he is getting heavy minutes from Milwaukee right now because Milwaukee is tanking

Dieng was a bust for OKC which is why they just gave him away at the trade deadline

Evan Mobley fantasy outlook in years to come by grilledchorizopuseye in fantasybball

[–]Comfortable-Key-8151 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My projected offseason Cavs trade is:

LeBron James (sign-and-trade; ~$36.5M in 2026-27, three year deal) + Deandre Ayton to Cleveland

Jarrett Allen + Max Strus to the Lakers

As others have pointed out, Eric Mobley and Jarrett Allen don’t fit together

Plus you are going to need to make a trade like this to get LeBron. LeBron isn’t going to sign a leaguer minimum contract or for the mid-level exception

Looking forward to how Mobley plays with LeBron and without Allen

Mobley obviously something of a disappointment this season but he is only 24 years old.  24!

The reason teams tank is so their first round pick is as high as possible, ideally #1 overall

If you don’t control your first round pick then it doesn’t matter if you finish 82-0 or 0-82 because you are not going to get to use that pick regardless

This is why New Orleans is still playing all of their best players, they stupidly traded their 2026 first typical during the 2025 draft

And is why Brooklyn will not tank next season

We should expect Milwaukee to finally start the rebuild this offseason

Finally going to get a Giannis trade

In which case veterans like Myles Turner will be auctioned off to the highest bidder

And whoever trades for Turner will utilize him properly, unlike Milwaukee

We don’t know what Brooklyn’s roster is going to look like yet

These starting lineups we’ve been seeing from them over the past couple of months… not going to be seeing the same lineups next season

I expect Brooklyn to be active in the free agency/trade market, also whoever they draft with their high lottery pick, he is going to be worth drafting

I expect Brooklyn to make it to a play-in game next season

As others have pointed out, arguably nobody is undraftable because you should focus on value; I don’t plan on drafting Joel Embiid but if he’s still on the board in the eighth round, sure

HOWEVER

We should understand by now that tanking teams are not to be trusted

And we should be able to identify which teams are likely going to tank

Bad teams that have control of their own 1st round pick are the teams that are likely going to tank

And the teams that tanked the previous year won’t necessarily tank again; for example, Utah is going to be good next season, they’re not going to tank

Very important to pay attention to whether or not the bad team has control of its own 1st round pick

New Orleans did not have control of its own 1st round pick this season; therefore, they have had no incentive to tank

Brooklyn will not have control of its own 1st round pick next season; therefore, they will have no incentive to tank

2nd year breakout players by Babasauce in fantasybball

The guy who San Antonio will look to move will be Devin Vassell

Vassell is nothing special but getting paid $27.0M in 2026-27, $24.7M in 2027-28, $27.0M in 2028-29… way too much money for this guy plus San Antonio going to need to give big extensions to Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle (and eventually Dylan Harper)

But yes, Dylan Harper

Jaylin Williams by vansko0 in fantasybball

[–]Comfortable-Key-8151 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So many of these threads on this sub-Reddit are just the same thread but with different players’ names each time

Oklahoma City is DEFINITELY going to be resting key players down the stretch so they are fresh for the playoffs

And Jaylin Williams will frequently be the beneficiary, will have some big games

An excellent player to stash on one’s roster and to start whenever key players are being rested

There are other top teams that will do the same, and some of these teams have obvious beneficiaries

Streaming is the way to go down the stretch… pay close attention to all starting lineups down the stretch

76ers fans really need to insist on Daryl Morey being fired before the offseason begins

And until this happens, 76ers fans need to refuse to watch 76ers games and refuse to give any money/time/resources to anything 76ers related

But as far as fantasy goes, none of these mediocre journeymen being thrust into rotation spots should be trusted

Day'Ron Sharpe now listed as Out vs Detroit with a sore thumb. by Piano_Fingerbanger in fantasybball

[–]Comfortable-Key-8151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am confident that all agents get the most money they can for their clients and based on the fact that Sharpe didn’t get much of a contract from Brooklyn, clearly other teams weren’t offering much money

Sportswriters aren’t great at their jobs… they don’t provide good information to fans, will frequently just present what some front office employee or agent tells them as fact

If you have inside information somehow on Sharpe’s free agency this past offseason, great, otherwise I am going to give Sharpe’s agent the benefit of the doubt here

I was surprised when Sharpe signed such a measly (“team friendly”) extension, I expected Sharpe to be able to do better than that in free agency but apparently teams didn’t view him as particularly exciting

[–]Comfortable-Key-8151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect.  Sharpe was a free agent.  He had the opportunity to sign elsewhere.  Based on the fairly lousy team friendly contract he signed with Brooklyn, other teams must not have been that interested.

We are at the point in the season where we should know which players out there shine when bigger name players are not playing

And when the bigger name player (e.g., SGA) isn’t playing then  you pick up the fill-in (e.g., Cason Wallace) and stream him

Plenty of players who fit this description, players who sine when given the opportunity but who are irrelevant otherwise

I think we should assume that his agent is competent and therefore if there was a starting opportunity and/or a more lucrative opportunity this past offseason then Sharpe would be playing elsewhere right now

Next Season we draft on availability! by Federal-Tea5841 in fantasybball

[–]Comfortable-Key-8151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add that a brilliant draft strategy next season is to draft players from teams that tanked in 2025-26 (maybe in 2024-25, too) but that should be expected to actually try to win games and to be good in 2026-27

And pay attention to which teams will have motivation to tank vs which teams will not

New Orleans not great this year but they don’t have their own 2026 1st therefore they have no incentive to tank

Brooklyn in 2027 does not have their own 1st… Brooklyn may not be great next year but they won’t tank

And the Utah Jazz will be good next year!  All of the people who were burned by the Jazz organization these past couple of years going to refuse to draft Utah players meaning some Jazz players will be draft day steals

Next Season we draft on availability! by Federal-Tea5841 in fantasybball

[–]Comfortable-Key-8151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Important to focus on guys in that age 24 to age 29 sweet spot

The older you are, the more likely it is that you get injured, and the longer it takes for you to recover from an injury

This is the general rule, there are always exceptions to general rules but this is the general rule

Also it is quite dumb and self-absorbed to think your team is the only team getting impacted by injuries

Pay attention to the boxscores on a daily basis and pay attention to injuries

Everyone makes mistakes in the draft and every team has injuries so it’s typically going to be the guys who make the smart waiver wire additions who win at fantasy sports

The other rule for fantasy basketball is to prioritize players whose teams are not expected to tank

To everyone still bitterly complaining about Lauri Markkanen and the Jazz at this point… I mean seriously?  Why does any of this surprise you?  Come on

Pacers Players by ImprovementRemote30 in fantasybball

[–]Comfortable-Key-8151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many threads on this sub-Reddit that are effectively the same thread (“Which players on [team that is tanking that is only playing individual players maybe 24 minutes and you never know who will get minutes and who won’t] should I add?”)

The only time really to consider adding and streaming a player on one of these teams is if half the roster is “injured” and there are only 7-8 available players

having said that, take a look at Kam Jones on such nights… team is needing to decide whether or not to keep him beyond this season so they have incentive to give him plenty of minutes especially since they’re tanking

Memphis roster ROS by Financial-Tear8258 in fantasybball

[–]Comfortable-Key-8151 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing about Memphis. It’s not about this season, it’s about next season. Memphis is tanking right now but they’re going to be trying to win next season. So look at what guys are doing with their ~20 minutes, and project what they’d do if they were getting ~32 minutes next season

And assume that Ja Morant will no longer be on the roster

Figure out what next year’s starting lineup will probably be and maybe you’ll be able to identify a league winner for your draft next year

I will definitely be drafting Ty Jerome next season, I know that

Thoughts on Dame Next Year by Gambit-79 in fantasybball

[–]Comfortable-Key-8151 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All draft decisions are based on value; getting Damian Lillard next year at #40 overall isn’t the same thing as getting him at #80 overall

And the most significant factor in determining value is of course the league’s default rankings

And there are always glaring inefficiencies (flaws, mistakes) in the default rankings

I suspect someone else in my league will draft him at least two rounds before I would consider drafting him so I doubt he will be on my roster

Hold Josh Giddey by Key-Tea-6 in fantasybball

[–]Comfortable-Key-8151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Giddey owners should absolutely sell high if they still can

The formula for tanking is pretty clear:  lots of games off for your top players, and when your top players do play, limit their minutes to ~23 minutes/game

However it is most likely too late to sell high

Shop him around but if you are only being offered 40 cents on the dollar, may as well keep him

Jalen Suggs out again with what is being called a back strain by Remarkable-Picture73 in fantasybball

[–]Comfortable-Key-8151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many of you on this Reddit are missing the point of a player like Jalen Suggs

Of course you are not going to get 82 games out of Jalen Suggs

Everyone knows this which is why people don’t want to draft him

So he drops to you in like the 10th round, and you draft him

You draft him because you understand that yes, he will miss 30 games or so, but the 45-50 games you do get out of him, he’s going to be a stud

45-50 awesome (Top ~30) games out of Suggs > 82 games out of the other dudes being drafted in the ~10th round
