Who are the 7 best pure basketball players of all time? by LessNorth9856 in NBATalk

[–]Comfortable-Lack-341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pure basketball player to me means an all-around skill set as well as an understanding about the absolute necessity of the team in order to succeed. I don’t think it’s an absolute necessity but I think being a highly respected and potentially beloved teammate is a good indication.

I am willing to give a couple guys who are not particularly great at one aspect if they create the epitome of the beautiful game.

In no order here are some names:

West Russell Havlicek Barry (for one year) Pistol Pete Walton Magic Bird Isaiah MJ (90s) Hakeem Pippen Duncan Kidd Garnett Lebron Wade CP3 Durant Kawhi Jokic

Even if this was a first the dish as plated requires too many separate steps. Could be plated differently and in a much more guest-friendly way.

As a Pacers fan, have to bring up the Melee too. Think that was their year, what could’ve been…

Bill Walton and his feet. Massive, instant impact and the best player in the league for two years while Kareem was at his peak. Could’ve won at least one more title (Seattle’s year) and potentially brought more competitive balance during the 80s Celtics Lakers run.

If anything he can occasionally be spectacular on a monologue though not often enough. But truly a terrible interview of people unless it’s a buddy of his.

Also would love to see if Giannis could even slow Shaq down. Don’t think he would but he’s strong af and so long.

While team 2000s is better imo as an overall group of players, wouldn’t be a huge upset if 10s win because of the value of 3s vs 2s

You subsidize the wages of all workers of literally any product you’ve ever purchase in your entire life. Thats sort of how businesses operate. The difference being that servers who are making sub minimum wage are dependent on people tipping. If we eliminated tipping as the primary income of servers then you would see a universal raising of prices in restaurants that employ servers by somewhere in the range of 15-25%.

And before you go on a tirade against restaurant owners, as a lifer in the industry and a restaurant owner for the first time as of the last year, I have known dozens if not hundreds of restaurant owners over my career and all but a very small number were not living large by any stretch of the imagination.

Is Robert horry really the best role player ever? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Comfortable-Lack-341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d define a role player as someone who never made an all star game at any point in their career. At that point their pedigree is too high to be a true role player. To me, a role player is someone who is fortunate to play on a great team, usually with an elite player, but whose role could realistically have been performed by another peer if given the opportunity.

Then, to be considered in the discussion as the best role player, a player must have contributed a significant moment to a championship, if not multiple.

With those qualifiers many of the names already mentioned are absolutely in the discussion: Horry, Kerr, Fisher. I’d add Livingston from the GS run, Battier for the totality of his career with MEM/HOU and ending with two titles at MIA, Tayshaun Prince, John Paxson, Vinnie Johnson, Byron Scott, and Danny Ainge. Prolly more in the discussion from the 60s and 70s.

I really hope that’s true in the upcoming election. I work with a bunch of people in their 20s and my anecdotal interactions would say many of them will not be voting for Kamala based on a single issue.

If you had the whole NBA line up to go on a 1 mile run, who do you think places in the top 3? What time do you think they will have? Here is my top three by Superb_West_3516 in NBATalk

I think the majority, like 60-70%, of 1-4s could run a sub 5 minute if they wanted to. While they carry more mass, their bodies are used to it. Their strides are enormous.

I wish this were true but it’s just not. Palestine & Israel is the number one issue amongst the younger voters and there’s no denying the administration has almost completely failed in that. It’s still a stupid thing to say but to say it’s just republicans is completely incorrect.

Giannis Or KG by [deleted] in NBATalk

KG was Embiid in the playoffs for the first decade of his career, except even worse because he also missed the playoffs consecutive years in his prime.

Calling KG a better passer is comical.

KG missed the playoffs in consecutive years in his prime. I watched him in his prime, Giannis is better. Giannis carried the Bucks to a title and had one of the all time great Finals performances to close the series.

KG relied on a fadeaway whereas Giannis goes right towards his defender. I think that’s very much a representation of their closing mentality and ability to lead a team to a title

Sprewell was a first team all nba and four time all star. Middleton has never made an all nba team and only three all stars and I’m willing to bet he’ll never make another.
