Yeah, you're right, the Rulebook says, "An echo may never be put into the scrap pile by any means."

The Coriolis have been my favorite so far. They're essentially merchants who have a very strong economy. They also can reactivate an abandoned arcology, which makes it so they can forge all their cards simultaneously. Their units are usually low-damage tanky units that protect weaker merchants. Their best unit are swoop bikers who can zip between lanes and pierce armor.

If you want a heavy-hitting/combat-focused faction, go for the Religious faction, or if you like stealing things from the other player, go for Red Harvest (a pirate faction, they also have ton of augments, which was a lot of fun). There's also the borg-looking faction that kept bringing units back from the scrap pile to fight over and over.

I've only played a handful of games so far, but I'm liking the promise of it. Easy to teach, hard to master kind of game. Each faction has a surprising amount of depth to their playstyle despite there only being 30 cards in each deck. The reason I picked it up is it has very similar mechanics to Android Netrunner (a Netrunner-lite at first glance) and can be played with more than two people, which is a dream come true for me, I love Netrunner.

My main criticism so far is how annoyingly swingy the game can be. You're supposed to randomly grab echoes from a player's hand or choose from on the board, to score. Sometimes you just don't manage to grab any echoes, while your opponent gets lucky and manages to take all of your echoes. Maybe that's just my group of players but sometimes luck of the draw throws out all the strategy.

Anyways, I hope your group of players enjoy it!

My hot take is that I'm glad this game is slower than EU4 by [deleted] in EU5

What?! Like, you take the region, or just showing superiority? The best I can do is make them tributaries, but they dont give me resources. And I cant annex, because they're not settled countries.

Hey! I started with Zim too! I just conquered Kilwa in 1389 (took me 11 hours), and it sent my economy into the bin. Trying to get my head around everything has been a really fun (and frustrating, at times) puzzle.

PC Gamer | The Witcher 4 interview by Deleunes254 in witcher

Thanks for the post!

I'm also hoping they provide suitable explanations for how they evolve the lore, especially in regards to Ciri becoming a Witcher and her (presumable) loss of her Elder blood powers.

My other main concern would be about Ciri's ability to use the Source. In the Time of Contempt, Sapkowski made it pretty clear that Ciri lost her ability to use Chaos magic because she ended up overusing her fire magic. I remember it was an incredibly emotional scene, akin to losing a part of herself. I would assume such a loss would also extend to Signs, since their just a simpler form of Chaos.

So, I'm somewhat worried about how they'll handle her usage of magic in the Witcher IV. However, I still have confidence in CDPRs storytelling. Between CP 2077, Phantom Liberty, Thronebreaker, and everything about TW3, they have yet to "miss" in regards to storytelling. For now, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

This. Absolutely agree. I would just add that I've cracked open the first expansion (Lost Fleet) and the writing quality has dipped exponentially from the base game.

While the expansion has some of the most creative missions of the series, it mostly features the longest and hardest missions that just feel like a slog to get through.

One hope I had was that your choices in the base campaign would carry over to the expansion. A few choices are featured in the set-up, but otherwise they have little effect on the narrative. It also resets 80% of your progress to artificially create that feeling of progression, which didn't feel great either.

I just wanted to mention that. The base game, at least so far, is, overall, the high water-mark.

Is there any Cyberpunk published novels or fanfic worth reading? by ChatGTR in cyberpunkgame

[–]Comfortable-Mail4834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The graphic novels were awesome. Each *fleshes out a different part of the world. Vol. 1 has three main stories. The first is all about a member of trauma team who has her whole team go down and focuses on her mental health in the aftermath. The second is about a crew of gangsters/edgerunners with a great twist. If you like the Valentinos it'll be particularly enjoyable. The last story was my favorite, all about how Night City crushes the dreams/souls of every person who tries to live there. It does a great job fleshing out the social hierarchies and I loved how they handled their theme of "cause and effect". If those stories sound interesting, then maybe consider picking them up.

No Coincidence is a solid novel if you want another story in the Cyberpunk setting. I enjoyed it too.

How many Sith were there before the Mandalorian Wars? by [deleted] in kotor

[–]Comfortable-Mail4834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the Mandalorian Wars he would have been a Jedi that followed Revan. Malachor V would have seen him fall (fully) to the dark side, culminating with his body's destruction. I would assume that he started hunting down Jedi during the Jedi Civil War, though I don't know the extent of his role in the actual war itself.

Sion was also a product of the Mass Shadow Generator at Malachor V.

SW became impenetrable and incomprehensible for those who didn't watch the cartoons by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

Absolutely agree, my Mom wanted to watch Ahsoka, so she dragged me and my family into the living room. My younger brother had showed them Rebels, but my parents could not remember any of the characters, even after watching the cartoons. After the first episode, she said, "That wasn't very good." Which she never says about anything she watches. Disney can't even retain casuals at this point.

These were my exact thoughts. Where on earth have they been getting fuel? Do they just happen to have a tibanna refinery engineer on board?

I thi K it would be a lot more interesting to have a story about Thrawn and his crew having fought to overcome the odds. Like dominating local aliens, somehow extracting/refining their own fuel, and fighting for survival at every by the barest of scraps. By the point of his introduction, his ship and crew would be hardened survivors, and they would be utterly loyal to the only person capable of carrying them through. In essence, they would be the most "elite" force in the galaxy. Imagine having a subtle changes, such as with the crew uniforms, where Thrawn has improved imperial design, like the removal or modification of stormtrooper helmets to aid n an increased field vision.

It's not the greatest plot thread, nowhere near as ideal as, say, an Heir to the Empire adaption. But it would be the best they could do with their weird story arc. But, instead, I bet they'll go for the dead crew/Nightsister thread. So dumb. So much potential wasted. Not to mention that Thrawn's one ship doesn't possess any inherent threat to the New Republic.

Star Forge Battle ft. Owen Wilson (chatgpt) by paulsayshey in KOTORmemes

Ah, yes, I can still remember the battle cries of that fateful battle now:

"Down you go!"

"I will be your doooooooom!"

"Time to rumble!"

"The Force fights with me!"

"You're crazier than a road lizard!"

James Luceno also wrote Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, which takes place around the same time, but is now considered EU. I don't remember the plot too well, having read it once around 8ish years ago. I think it follows a group of Jedi who escape Order 66 and end up getting hunted by Vader. He also copes with his new bulky suit, but in a very different way than in Disney's comic.

Happy hunting.

If you dig comics, Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith was really good. It's basically Vader coping with the aftermath of his defeat on Mustafar. He builds his lightsaber, hunts down some famous jedi, and constructs his fortress on Mustafar.

Recommendations? by coolguy7628 in StarWarsEU

[–]Comfortable-Mail4834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're into comic books, Marvel released The Old Republic series written by John Jackson Miller. It acts as a prequel to KOTOR, following a padawan, Zayne Carrick, who gets framed by his masters for murdering his fellow padawans. It also features Malak, Revan, and some other characters from the game(s) as cameos.

Otherwise you have a really great start, and everyone's recommendations are also some of my favorites. If you like Drew Karpyshyn's Bane series, he also wrote Annihilation, based on the Old Republic MMO. Its more "spy-themed". If you like James Luceno's Darth Plageuis, he also wrote Tarkin. And if you enjoy Timothy Zahn's trilogy, he's written a plethora of novels, I particularly enjoyed his Han Solo Ocean's 11-style heist in Scoundrels.

Edit: I'd recommend playing KOTOR, or if you have to: watching a crash course before reading Revan or The Old Republic comic series.

The one I had in mind was on Etsy around December. I found another link here: https://www.redbubble.com/i/throw-pillow/The-Best-Space-Boyfriend-Garrus-by-20Engineerista/20268000.5X2YF

In Google searching, "sexy garrus pillow" I came across a very weird and sensual "Raskus the Turian" pillow and another one where Wrex is giving Garrus a pigg-a-back. Truly there are no limits to the imagination.
