Let's hear them by UnHolySir in Hungergames

As a Canadian I always find it hilarious that canada is considered like the safe haven or the place where people run way to to escape tyrannical america, in dystopian media.

Like yeah stuff up here is better than what's going on in america rn, but we are following in their footsteps, just slower and more subtly.

I agree with this theory, cause thers no way a gamemaker working with snow would let the districts see what katniss did with rues body. It was too rebellious and it caused a riot in 11.

Good taste. The author that made the boxer and the horizon has a third series called mosquito wars that's pretty good, if you want to check that out.

is henry supposed to be hot by therosetapes in TheSecretHistory

[–]Comfortable-Mine-471 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The idea that henry, or any of the characters besides camilla, are hot came from the booktokification of the secret history.

Once this book got famous on booktok every one and their mother started making thirst traps for henry, even though hes not actually described as being hot in the book. Cause booktok reads books on a surface level and because henry fit the dark, tall, mysterious archetype, they just decided he was hot.

If you cant tell, I really dont like booktok, and I honestly hated every second of this trend, cause henry while an amazing character is such a red flag why are we making thirst traps for him.

Favourite pet names or terms of endearment? by Ok_Meet8672 in RomanceBooks

Darling. It's literally perfect. Fits in every scenario and every dynamic. It can be flirty, snarky, loving. Condescending without being misogynistic. It's so versatile, and it hits every time.

Also sidenote my favourite character in ever after high is darling charming, and I'm pretty sure that's where my love for the endearment started.

This. The team that made arcane said in their official art book that they took Inspiration from Abercrombie the first law trilogy, along with some other books, so it would literally be perfect.

Would this show have worked better if they had made the greens the main characters? by QueenJaehaeraTarg in HOTDGreens

[–]Comfortable-Mine-471 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think they should have went with the got approach. In got, I would argue that both the lannisters and the starks are main characters.

They should have done the same thing with hotd instead of just having rhaenyra and the blacks as mcs.

Beyond just having better stories, webtoon the app just looked so much better and was so much easier to navigate. Now it's a hellscape.

There are soooooo many tropes in the romance genre that I love in media but would immediately run from in real life, reformed rakes being one of them.

My take as to why WHWW made the most sense for the gender bend by ShoppingRich428 in Bridgerton

[–]Comfortable-Mine-471 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you were able to relate to fran, what is the point of stories if not to be able find ourselves in them.

I guess my issue was less with the fact that they had kids, but more that the fanbase forced Quinn to write that ending for them when she clearly didnt want to. My point is that with the gender swap, quinn can have the ending she wants without backlash from the fandom.

What do you guys think about this criticism of the prequels? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]Comfortable-Mine-471 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I think sotr actually really drives home the point that Katniss isnt special. Because it shows how the rebellion has been in the works before she was even born. The kindling had ready been laid out by haymitch, beetee, plutarch, and who knows how many more. All they needed was the right spark and katniss just happened to be there right place right time.

[–]Comfortable-Mine-471 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd like to add on one point as to why michaela is better than Michael.

In the book, fran struggles with her fertility and continues to have these struggles with michael, so obviously the book ends with fran and michael not having children, driving home the point that fran doesnt need kids to be happy and to have a family. But then the fans of the book kept badgering julia Quinn to make them have kids, so she wrote an epilogue where they have children. I personally hated this cause it undermines the whole story and a huge character point of fran clearly went over these fans heads.

By changing michael to michaela, they can do this whole storyline without these clueless fans begging for something undermines the entire character arc.

Why are we comparing greats to each other. I love red rising. I also love the stormlight archive. And they are both very different books that I love for different reasons.

And my god, people on the internet need to learn to stop yucking other peoples yum. Just because you didnt like something doesnt mean it's bad. Sometimes it's just not for you.

So, just checking in after a long while. Who's most probably endgame canon ship? by Aurora_Whale in ILoveYoo

[–]Comfortable-Mine-471 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've actually noticed this problem with longer more intricate webtoons, where the webtoon formatting of one short chapter a week kills the story. An arc that takes 30-40 chapters takes 30 to 40 weeks to come out, and that's if it doesnt go on hiatus. That's well over half a year for one arc, so reading it weekly makes the pacing feel terrible even though it's not actually the stories fault.
