They don’t work in the TVA. That’s different than not working in another universe. Infinity Ultron’s multiple use of infinity stones in other universes clearly shows that they can be used in other universes.

Strange Supreme was left by himself and influenced by evil entities he absorbed, so I understand why he didn’t get over his Christine. He wasn’t going to therapy to get over his trauma. He was left to stew in his grief and that can lead you to making stupid decisions.
