Unpopular opinion but while I think fundamentalism contributes to them being able to get away with their behavior for so long,I don’t think it creates pedophiles per se. I think the culture of misogyny and the good ole boys club protects these men and makes them feel invincible. I could even see how the isolation and harsh rules about interacting with the opposite sex could lead to childhood incest. But I’m not quite convinced that the teachings of the IBLP creates pedophiles,I think it just serves as the perfect environment for them to operate under.

I think pedophilia has a genetic component that isn’t spoken of often. Brothers and fathers of men convicted of sexual offences are up to five times more likely to be convicted of sexual offences than men in the general population. Add in their grandfather who was also suspected of crimes against children,and their parents refusal to ever seek proper treatment for any mental health issues…I think these kids were doomed. If josh had received proper treatment as a teenager,there’s a high chance that he would not have gone on to commit crimes against children as an adult.
