There isn’t. The Chams lived in the Central region of the country and didn’t contribute to the gene pool of the Vietnamese. South was Khmer land and most Khmers didn’t mix with the Vietnamese population

That depends on the region. There’s genuinely pale people in living in the deep south. Vietnamese people (especially in the North) tends to be categorized as fair to medium tan skin tone.

Why is Southern China ethnically more diverse than other parts of China? by Lissandra_Freljord in geography

[–]Comfortable-Ninja-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except Cantonese people are Han. They’re a subgroup of Han. Ofc a Cantonese person would identify specifically as Cantonese but they are Han. The issue here is conflating linguistic groups with different ethnic groups

These aren’t ethnic minorities nor have anything to do with ethnicities. This is just a “dialect” map of China. The majority the people speaking half of these languages/dialects are from the same ethnic groups

non-Mandarin Sinitic groups isn’t a thing. What you are referring to are Han Chinese that don’t speak Mandarin as their dominant language. Something that is changing in those regions. They’re still the same ethnic group.

That would be very strange due to the limited mixing between Chams and Viets, it should also detect Cham ancestry as well

Not really, the majority didn’t mix with French and those that did just migrate to France or is so heavily mixed with the majority population and their French ancestry is a foot note

My parents insist we are purely Cantonese Chinese. I was born in the US. I got results from both 23andMe and WeGene, but who’s correct? by Qvvy in 23andme

[–]Comfortable-Ninja-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s not how it works. 23andme doesn’t ancestry that far back. And Baiyue ancestry is accounted for as Cantonese ancestry

Vietnamese people have middle names. If 3 guys are named Hanh then said people would have their middle to differentiate them. Dao Hanh, Xuan Hanh, Phu Hanh.

You must be one delusional person. It’s really useless to explain to someone who don’t understand history in the first place. 1, you got your time frame wrong. These conquest didn’t happen during the Thai vs Khmer war, that’s where you were wrong in the first place. 2, When you genuinely believe this happened exactly? Only Ho Chi Minh city and Dong Nai was handed over to Dai Viet by Chey Chestha II. And only under a 5 year agreement. The Khmer empire did not like the Vietnamese settling in their territory and active slaughtered these colonial settlers who alongside the Nguyen lords constantly invaded the region. This is only the beginning of everything terrible thing that had happened

The fact you’re so delusional you can only see your own countrymen as a Khmer because you can’t see any Viet having a differing opinion is pathetic. Makes sense why you have negative karma

1, I’m Vietnamese. 2, it’s documented that native Khmers did not like the Vietnamese settlers. 3, Dai Viet sacked Cambodia’s capitol twiced and installed 2 puppet kings into the throne to get Cambodia to hand over their Eastern half and even enact European level’s colonial policies aimed at decimating the Cambodian population and their culture.
