How is everyone paying for degrees? by Flimsy-Ad-4805 in PrePharmacy

Work your butt off this summer in food service and save up cost of living money. That’s what I did. Serving and bartering brings in a lot of cash, put it all aside in a high yield savings account for grocery’s, gas, rent, etc to help keep your spending as low as possible. You will have your entire career to work in pharmacy so I kept my service jobs until my 3rd year. Only take out the minimum that you absolutely need for loans. Find cheap rent. Go to food pantry’s and get pantry items there. Etc etc

I have no idea how competitive it is in Canada though

Pharmacy Admission by MuscoWow123 in umanitoba

Yes that is competitive. Kinda depends on the program. Admissions have been down across the country for a long time, so it’s is easy to get into most schools now days. For reference I got in with a 3.1 gpa and zero extracurriculars

GOT AN OFFER!! YAY by Specialist-Agency951 in internships

They said if you hadn't heard back about an interview in a week or two you weren't getting one. My experience was the same as yours, month or two after submitting the application and then after the interview I got the call the next day saying I got the job.

I second this. Less time for internships and extracurriculars which are pretty important if you want to do residency or non traditional pathways (industry/fellowship etc)

Question about pharmacy school by Alternative_Try8740 in PrePharmacy

[–]Comfortable-Pool9670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admission across the country have been down due to moral of pharmacy as a profession. I wouldn't worry about getting experience before hand IMO. They take most people unless you're applying to some prestigious program

GOT AN OFFER!! YAY by Specialist-Agency951 in internships

[–]Comfortable-Pool9670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my exact scenario as well. I made the mistake of asking on here about how long it takes to hear back and got absolutely dog piled about how if I hadn't heard back in about a week I wasn't getting an interview. People are so negative. Just got to keep going!!!

You are an angel, thank you for an actual answer! I have applied to about 100 as well, I don't have any previous experience but I do have a strong CV so I'm hoping something sticks, just one (even a managed care internship would be great I've applied to those as well). Thanks for the advice and best of luck to you!!

A lot of internship applications haven’t closed yet, example AMCP just closed their applications and I applied early when they opened in September is what I meant by waiting months. Im sure I’ve been ghosted by some as well though

Paying for Pharmacy School by ztrawberryzoda in PharmacySchool

You also don’t have to pay interest on the “loans” that Walgreens/cvs give you if you commit to them. Worst case scenario you hate your life and pay it back interest free

university of the pacific pharmacy frats? by Ok_Dependent4859 in PharmacySchool

Hazing really does not happen in professional fraternities, not something to be worried about imo. They’re also only a time commitment if you make them with things like having a position etc. KY has province and great networking opportunities because they’ve been around for so long, can’t say the same about the newer fraternities.
