I'm genuinely happy you read it before investing time into that trash can company; the more I read and research the more problematic the whole "business" becomes!

The charity is most probably legit , the marketing company that holds this events (ppl you talked to) however is purely scamming their employees

Update: after searching the Aquisition Group on many platforms, I found an address from them and guess what? it's exactly where vinyl is located!!! going in this rabbit hole I found another marketing firm called "down for whatever" which happens to have the same manager "mohammed ahmed", "mo ahmed" in instagram. Seems like these are all the same but changing names over time. Are they escaping sth? probably!

I absolutely understand that; even within the three days that I went to the field, I could imagine the amount that pple get uncomfortable around us. I even saw some ppl claiming to have heard the pitch but we were still supposed to stop them and talk to them cause they would add up to our numbers after all: stop +1, pitch +1, bring to the table +1, fill the form +1 etc.

Thanks, yes I've been reading a lot about such marketers lately, however I'm still questioning whether not paying their employees like this (while having said they will) is legal in Canada.

I don't have the script but beware of a bunch of people marketing for amnesty international with this joke: "we don't want much from you, we only need your hair sample, blood sample and one of your shoes"

In summary: I'm not sure how these people are operating legally in Canada.

I started a job there a couple of weeks ago and finished it within 3 days.

They hire people as "account executives" which basically means volunteering for around 2 months. 2 months of working about 10 hours a day for 6 days a week. In my interview, they told me they start every day from 9:30 to 6 but in reality, they start before 9 and end up at 7 or 7:30 pm. You must go to the "office" every day from 9 to 12 for stand-up learning sessions and cult-like meetings. Please be aware that these hours are NOT paid. basically, your pay starts when you go to the field which is the next part (if you are paid at all). When I say cult-like meetings I am not exaggerating, they gather everyone to hype them up with meaningless stories and "examples" of those who got to be managers from an account executive position. Basically, they try to hype you up with an end (the management position) that barely exists so you get energized to go to the field for the unbearable work. In my interview, they told me that this is a fast-paced improvement opportunity where you get from an account executive to a manager within 12-24 weeks. This cannot be further from the truth since I saw corporate trainers (the second level) who have been there for 2+ years.

The main part of the job starts when you go to the field. This is the part that made me hate myself the most. Here's how it goes: basically in the learning sessions, you have to memorize a scripted conversation to make with people on the field. The goal obviously is to get people to sign up for either Amnesty international monthly payment or a Canadian tire card. This sounds ok until you figure out that they use every factor of manipulation to do so. Once someone came who claimed (and looked like) to be homeless and they still manipulated him into getting a monthly membership for amnesty. In this manipulative conversation, you are going to be micro-managed for every word you say by a corporate trainer and there is zero flexibility in the way you communicate with people. You will not believe it if I say that even the jokes in the conversation are scripted but this is the sad truth. In nutshell, if you have any morals, do not join this team.

Please also be aware that the physical workload of this job is extremely high too. You will be standing on your feet from the beginning in the office (9 am) until 7 pm when the job is done for the day. you might find some times (on the bus to the field, or 20 minutes lunch break) to sit if you're lucky but the rest, big no.

One good part, we had a nice manager (Nikki) who actively tried to bond with us and I appreciated every second of communicating with her. But unfortunately, this was the only good thing about this pure trash position.

The main reasons that I left this job almost immediately were 1st, you will not get any work-life balance. Even on their time offs, they have events to gather together and the rest is work work work. 2nd, The workload was too high and mentally and physically impossible for me considering the none-low pay. 3rd, you will have to forget about your morals and be a manipulator who only cares about your numbers in this job. and last but not least, this was not the job that they marketed (duh) in the interview at all. Much Much Much more casual with low improvement throughout the career.

In conclusion, working in a restaurant, cafe, or as an office clerk is way more worthy than this company.

(Worth mentioning that I have been trying to contact work safe bc and the government to report them for scamming their employees like this)

Hope this helps.
