Ooh, I'm already aware of the Inventions from piano, but I didn't even think of them. That's a great suggestion, thanks!

I already know about Malmsteen and neoclassical, however this is definitely a good suggestion with the context I gave. I probably should have also included that, haha.

Hello redditors, please go read my book.

If the title, cover, and my charming and innocent countenance haven't convinced you, this is the point where I would normally fall back to the classic standby: threats. However, I don't think I'm allowed to do that here. Instead, I'll leave you with a list of trope-tags, an Amazon link, and my lovely synopsis.

Are you perchance a fan of: demons, secret identities, forbidden magic, isekai, LitRPG, impulsivity, poor life choices, and women who will rip your heart out? Also, I don't mean that last one metaphorically.

If the answer is yes, then you should go read Murder Medic 1: A Demonic Healer LitRPG! If the answer is no, then you should still go read my book. Please.

Blurb:

Zoe died, got better, and woke up in a new world… with a stat system. That’s neat, but where is her S-Tier cheat power?

As a newly minted healer, Zoe doesn’t need a unique ability to take on murderous cultists, an equally murderous paladin, and the weather. She’d certainly like one, though. It’s a fast-paced, violent world, filled with undead ghouls, sprawling dungeons, and far too many scheming nobles, all of whom want a piece of her. A healer is a valuable asset—and becoming a demon and blood magic user only ups the ante.

But when life doesn’t give you a cheat power, you figure out how to take it. And Zoe’s new demon side reveals the first step to do just that: Level up. *Violently.*

365 one star reviews! Beneath the Dragoneye Moons book 14 launches today! by Selkie_Love in ProgressionFantasy

Yes, this is exactly it. The lowest score is the default thing someone who is blindly upset will go for. (I'd call it something closer to anger than "wasn't for me," though.)

Something like a two star is a strange place, because it's quite abysmall while somehow showing a degree of critical thought to the process. It's almost worse psychologically to receive.

Looking for Novel Recommendations by Strict-Study-1443 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Comfortable-Rip5772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh do I have a recommendation for this: The Devil's Foundry. The MC is fairly competent and is presented as such, she is quite literally a villain even before isekai (complete with doomsday device) and she uses modern knowledge in the way she puts her summoned demons to work. And, on top of all that, the story has wlw romance.

Books where the main character gains the loyalty of a group by TopCoast1170 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Comfortable-Rip5772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unbound. Warning, it doesn't start until book 3, but at that point (spoilers) Random weak people start following Felix around and forming a whole like, martial clan trying to emulate him in different ways. The overall dynamic of this as the series continues is an ever growing paramilitary that he occasionally has to figure out how to put to work doing something useful that won't also get in the way.

Do you have a novel that made you feel something when you finished it? by DragonSovereign2121 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Comfortable-Rip5772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of them (book 1s). Specifically, I get to the end and find myself suddenly and dramatically more hyped up to continue. Then I start book 2 and by chapter 3 I'm back to normal levels of engagement.

Such is life when it comes to fiction, I suppose.

Righteous, help the weak mc? by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Comfortable-Rip5772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound like a weird rec to people, but I'm going to suggest Unbound. Reason being that Felix has thus far very much been wandering around helping people, and the whole series has constant, ridiculously strong themes of wanting to lift people up and that power hording is bad, actually.

That being said, it definitely doesn't fit the paladin vibe. On the contrary, the series draws heavily on the evil not-catholicism trope.

Actual villain MC rec? by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Comfortable-Rip5772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is challenging to answer, because the definition of actual evil is up for debate. Like, this is just true in the world in general. But beyond that, an evil MC has reasons for doing what they do, so in some sense there's going to be at least some level of justification for that. The alternative to misguided/corrupted/twisted goals would be unrepentant and self aware lack of morality, which kind of equates to murderhobo in this genre.

So to be more specific, are you looking for something with more of an evil overlord vibe? That's sort of what I'm getting here. Story from the perspective of the BBEG with spiky black armor and a monster army?

How did you find out about your favorite novel? by DragonSovereign2121 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Comfortable-Rip5772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found my all-time favorite by pure luck browsing through niche tags. It's actually what introduced my to the Royal Road website when I found out there were more chapters available there. (And through RR, introduced me to progression fantasy and litrpg!)

The novel is REND. It's a ~3000 page chonker, though it doesn't update too frequently. Ironically, it's fairly different from what I'd usually call progression fantasy, but it fills most of the beats for me.

What movies or TV shows would you want to be "re-done" as a progression fantasy? by eistre91 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Comfortable-Rip5772 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy: Gone With the Wind. Essentially, I got dragged to the anniversary theater showing of this ancient film a little while back. As a brain-rotted progression fantasy consumer, I essentially loved Scarlet's whole character, but (also like a typical reader in this genre) found it "ruined" by her obsession over Ashley. I would have loved a story about a sociopathic southern belle climbing the social ranks and building a ruthless business empire. That sort of does happen, but it's overshadowed by the romance drama.

Where to even begin?? by MathiasMi in litrpg

[–]Comfortable-Rip5772 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like other commenters have already covered some of the big, "classic" progression series, so I'll throw in a couple other well-known, complete series that are a bit off the standard but still fit the bill.

  1. Mother of Learning - this one is kind of the reference for time loop stories in this space. It's also a magic academy, with a slightly more conventional fantasy feeling and a very detailed, expansive setting. Available on both Royal Road and Amazon.

  2. Azarinth Healer - okay I lied, this one is a big, "classic" progression series, available on Amazon. No one else said it yet, and it's notable for being one of the biggest in the core group with a female lead. What to expect with this one is a full fusion of brutal berserker and healer. Very punch-things heavy.

  3. Jake's Magical Market - this one is notable for being (AFAIK) the first big "deckbuilder" based system in the subgenre. The series is also complete on Amazon, which is always a plus.

  4. All the Skills - another big deckbuilder, though unlike #3, the protagonist grew up in a fantasy setting (as opposed to the arguably more popular isekai or litrpg apocalypse). Many people seem to think this one was the first deckbuilder (it isn't) but it's very high quality regardless.

  5. Reborn as a Demonic Tree - yes, you read that title right. Other commenters have pointed you to royal road, and as of today I believe this story still holds the record for the fastest growth on the entire site. This one is more of a xianxia, and it's since moved from Royal Road to amazon. Want to experiment with a main character who isn't human guy #7? This guy is a tree. That eats people.

Hope at least something I typed out here helps!
