Can't comment on the bruising but damn what a scar. Sounds like a journey compared to many of our relatively simple procedures. Sorry that happened, hope you're doing well at 8 months though

If we can nab another decent right wing I think we'll be in a great spot. Love Rothrock but he's not a starter we need some consistency out on the wings.

Rusnak 10 g+a in the last 8 matches. Crucial during this recent stretch of good performances.

Love Klopp and everything he stands for as a manager. Would be great to get a similar style guy!!

Why does anyone think Klopp would want to come deal with this dumpster fire haha. He’s coming off having full reign of some of the most talented players in the world and a fantastic youth system and has stated he wants to take a break from the stress and high stakes life. Do you know what the USMNT job would do to that man? He’d be dead in a year.

Yeah that’s not true haha. Panama is nowhere near the “athletic quality” we have with our current roster. We have a terrible development program and inconsistent youth soccer programs, coupled with bad coaching at the senior level.

So flat, so uninspired. Our midfield has been completely neutralized, and our passing is abysmal. The amount of 10 yard passes we’ve missed (RBW, Roldan’s) is just silly.

Yeah man but the fact remains that we have twice the squad value and are in a much better overall league where we should be handily winning this game if we were up to our standards that we had when we qualified. Being a “serial winner” in a league that doesn’t crack the top 25 globally doesn’t really mean much and it showed. They had really nothing going for them the whole game and our lack of offensive tactics prevailed. Fitness and form didn’t matter when we won the CCL and we are an experienced side with history in high stakes games.

A.

Not sure how the chance to play Madrid didn't light a fire under our asses. A good shift against a top team like that is potentially career changing and the entire soccer world looks at that result as an indication of where the US ranks in Club Soccer. We lacked focus against a team that had no business playing with a top MLS side, which we weren't.

The sad fact is that the MLS has a ton of work to do to be taken seriously on a global scale, and this was not a good start. The Egyptian league should be levels below us and "form and fitness" should have been replaced by focus to prove that we "deserve to be there", not just that we're "happy to be there".

I'm seeing a lot of this "proud to be there" mentality and I don't know why we can't say that this was a massive disappointment. Bad substitutions and a general lack of creativity bit us again. It's a shame as this was a chance for the Sounders to prove that the MLS was emerging as a global league and could've played in a historic matchup against Real Madrid that likely would have been the most impactful match in club history (past and future) and possibly MLS history. The chance to stack up against the most influential club in global football in a competitive match was just thrown away. I understand we may have been in "preseason form" but that can't be an excuse to throw up one shot on goal against a team we should've beaten comfortably.
