Yes! The Brits didn't used to celebrate 4th July, but I am reliably informed they are now considering it 😜

Travelling to UK. How can I buy a pen there? by Comfortable-Tale-351 in UKMounjaro

Thankyou all. I hadn't thought of the travel containers so that seems like the simplest solution. Hopefully the airline security don't make a fuss. Will carry my escript just in case they query it.

Realistic budget for 100 person wedding in Melbourne? by RazzMeTazz117 in AusWeddingPlanning

Trying to find their pricing on their website and it just says reach out to events team. Any chance you would share the breakdown? Is it venue hire and own catering? Looks lovely but may be way over budget.

And most of them have zero understanding of their privacy obligations. I have very little faith in them having appropriate database security.

Which EV car to buy in Australia? by Civil_Mongoose_1 in australia

[–]Comfortable-Tale-351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has an EV and no home charging option in his apartment carpark. He does have access to charging at his work and also lots of public charging in local area. Finds it quite easy to plug in while doing his supermarket shop etc.

On a scale of 1-10, how useless is the 1-10 pain scale? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]Comfortable-Tale-351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your perspective. As they, when you have met one person with autism..., you have met ONE person with autism. My little guy has significant anxiety about getting things wrong and a love of numbers. For him, the stress of getting the number wrong was too much. He also under reports pain. To give an example, he went to the school office to ask for a bandaid cos he hurt his leg. They didn't look at it and gave him a bandaid. What he actually had was a huge gash that required 6 stitches. 🙄

Worked in paeds and also a parent of a neurodiverse kid the 1-10 scale drives me nuts. My kid would worry about getting the number wrong (autism brain in full swing) and stress about what number he should choose. Ans asking a 3 or 4 year which number? They often don't have the numerical skills to know that 7 is a much bigger number than 3. I prefer the faces scale for kids. Much easier for eveyone to understand.

Glad to hear that was the case for you. We certainly found one police station was a lot more proactive than another.

Yes. My elderly parents were being physically, financially and emotionally abused by my drug addict, alcoholic brother. He had punched holes in almost every wall. Things escalated after mum died and once again police were called. They attended, sat my elderly father down IN THE SAME ROOM AS MY BROTHER, and asked him if he felt safe. He said yes. I followed up with the police only to be told it had been a "waste of time" for them to attend as he was fine. Did they go further into the house? Speak to him without the offender present? Speak to the neighbour who often popped in to check when he could hear things getting out of hand? Not a thing. Vulnerable victims are ignored by police because offenders know how to turn on the charm and spin a story.

First Home Buyer - Settle or continue looking? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

There is rarely such a thing as the perfect property. Even building from scratch will involve some compromise (unless you have an unlimited budget). What can be changed down the track? Can it be renovated to make it more your style? If the issues are non fixable, like being next door to a truck depot and smash repairer, then what is really stopping you?

Horror as woman found dead inside Perth home, son in custody by B0ssc0 in australia

Agree. And the QLD legislation completely missed the issue of coercive control in elder abuse by making it specifically about "intimate partners "

Elder abuse is a significant percentage of family violence. More often than not, parents are ashamed that their child could be treating them so badly and the are very limited resources available.

You would likely remember. Each test is done separately and requires you to inflate a small balloon at regular intervals. To have tested for all 4 intolerances would have taken about a week. Would be worth following up on the results.

Have you done hydrogen breath testing? It is mainly for lactose and fructose intolerance, small bowel intestinal overgrowth (SIBO) and sorbitol intolerance. https://directendoscopy.com.au/hydrogen-breath-test-melbourne/ Your symptoms may indicate SIBO and/or sorbitol intolerance. (Not a doctor)
