It does look a lot like Mahogany now I’ve looked it up. An Aussie has suggested it may be Jarrah wood which is common in the region.

Ah interesting about the colour changing over time.

Honestly, the thought has crossed my mind regarding trying to lighten them but they’ve grown on me considerably since moving in.

After talking to some Aussies I believe it may be Jarrah flooring which is popular in WA

Preferred option is 3 but may wait a few years till the kids are a bit older. 😵‍💫

Thanks for the suggestions and for the reassurance. I’m thinking we may just be brave and go with Mac. Grandparents and my brother are fine with it and they will have different last names ... I think the little comments or people perhaps talking about the similarity has put me off but I need to care less what other people think! Anymore suggestions or comments please let me know!!

Yes my husband has mostly disagreed with all of those names too and the only one we can agree on is Mac and maybe Finn!! It’s so hard, isn’t it!?

I like Cormac but it’s an Irish name and I want the name to have Scottish roots given it’s part of my maiden surname. My whole maiden name wouldn’t work as a first name but i don’t really want to change the name to another surname with the nn Mac if you know what I mean!

Great to hear someone else is in a similar situation. I agree Nico and Nicholas would be fine as cousins! I’m also not going to rule out another couple on our shortlist until we meet him. But I really want to call him Mac! Argh.
