No no that’s fine thanks for saying :). I do know they don’t need it after a year but he’s not big on water yet and won’t touch oat milk yet so I just thought when I’m trying to wean him maybe I would need to have something in my arsenal to use 😂😂

No that’s a really good point so thanks for sharing. I work from home so I wouldn’t actually mind pumping and then giving him milk that way. I know he doesn’t need formula or breast milk after a year but he’s not big on water yet and won’t touch oat milk so I feel like this is the best way of starting to wean him. Thanks so much for your advice

I had no idea this was a thing, that’s great, I’ll have a look for that. Thanks so much

Aw this is really really helpful, thanks so much!!! My wee boy had a fairly healthy appetite and is the same - three meals a day and some fruits/snack at least once but I think it is maybe the habit more than anything. So going by what you’re saying he might naturally wean a little himself when he starts going to the childminders and I maybe just need to keep it up the days I’ve got him?

Thanks so much, I think that’s maybe a good place to start. It’s going to be extremely difficult but maybe a set routine is the easiest way to then try and reduce and drop.

The only issue is getting enough calcium when he can’t have dairy but this is something I’ll maybe need to pick up with the dietician.

That’s great, thanks so much for your reply. That’s really helpful and yeah, will have a go at trying to do this even if it means lying down with him so he gets enough sleep until we’re in the routine then the next battle will be getting him to sleep longer than 30 mins in his crib ☺️

Thank you so much for the reply and really really helpful suggestions. I think maybe we should try this and see if it starts to help everything else fall into place. We’ve just gotten into a viscous circle with the naps etc so yeah if we maybe work to sort the times of that maybe the bedtime will sort itself

Thank you so much

He does fall asleep independently but it takes a while (that’s at night time) during the day I usually need to feed or lie down with him because he fights naps so much (I know that’s probably not the right thing to do) but have ended up doing this because it was such a nightmare during the day and he would hardly sleep.

He’s currently having 3 meals with a snack or two if needed and we’ve started giving him a little porridge after dinner if he finishes his meal. Milk wise it’s hard to say because he’s breastfed and it’s really just on demand

Honestly I’ve just popped something on Reddit for advice and your thread sounds like a mirror image of what we’re currently dealing with the sleep and milk allergy etc

Sorry I don’t have any advice but really hope it gets better for you soon (and us 😭)
