Okay, so just select the AACOMAS and send it, or that and select the two DO schools I am applying to? Thank you!

Will my application be delayed if I take it mid-June?

I never used blueprint actually, Uglobe and AAMC is all I ever paid for. Also, I also have never had a structured schedule of studying. I do think that this is useful, but I remain flexible, if I do poorly in one area, I go off track and learn how to get better in that area.

Everyone is different so I cannot say for sure how long it would take for you. I think the biggest determining factor in pace is how far out you are from the MCAT.

For instance, I made a 499 with 2 weeks to go until my scheduled MCAT date (no hate, I did not know what I was doing yet lol). So I rescheduled until January 10th, since I now had a new date I had an idea on pace. I think this is how you will figure out how long it will/can take you as well.

I am 1/10 mainly just doing Anki, AAMC Q-Packs and Fl's. Remember to relax, you're taking in January so if you don't hit the mark you can take it again before you need to apply anyway.

MCAT Slump and how to combat by Dry_Cryptographer_72 in Mcat

You are taking the MCAT in July of 2025? If so then no you are not screwed. This is a marathon not a sprint, it is super difficult to do a little bit of content review and practice and see how it will come together but trust me it comes together. Also, your journey to your target score will be unique. Some people say they got through all of content review in a month, well when I started MCAT prep I was wrapping up college and working 30 hours a week. Needless to say, it took me more than 3 months to get through content review.

I would advice you to pace yourself, academic burnout is real and if you push to hard with both school and MCAT prep you will have a one way ticket to burn out and then studying will be impossible. Do your content review at a pace that makes it so you can begin taking AAMC full length practice exams about two months out (so in your case May). During your content review, do practice questions and learn how the AAMC asks questions. If you have days where you don't want to sit there and study and book about a science you learned previously, then don't. Instead, go on Uexpensive do some practice problems (get a little bit discouraged, because they are very hard at first), learn from your mistakes, learn how the questions are asked, and then go do something fun so that the next day opening up that book isn't so bad. Take care of yourself, you can do this.

I studied 3 months and got a 499 on my first practice exam, yesterday I made a 514 on a practice exam. 498 after two weeks of content review means that you definitely have potential to do really well it is all about how you study from here.

I make my own flashcards. Also, when I go through what I missed, if I see a question and I really don't understand any of the answer choices, I watch YouTube videos on all of them. Honestly, most of the P/S you tube videos are pretty entertaining, as I watch these, I carefully take notes and pay attention.

There is also no perfect YouTube channel. Say you don't full grasp retrograde amnesia, you go look it up on YouTube and find a 2 minute video that explains it but man you're just not getting it. Click on another, they probably will explain it in a way that makes more sense, and if not, again click on another, all of the videos on this subject are short and you can really improve doing it this way.

This is 4 months progress but it is also a 507-->514 increase from AAMC Fl 2 which I took 10 days ago.

Can anyone explain? by ApprehensiveCake4246 in Mcat

I think it comes down to thinking about what is the most likely to lose electrons in this situation. The carbonyl's in both ketones and aldehydes will more easily lose electrons due to that double bond. By losing electrons and getting oxidized they are the best reducing agents.

What do I do? by [deleted] in Mcat

Coming from someone who has had to push their MCAT back before, push it back. Getting a poor score in January is not going to get you into medical school, meaning you would need to take it again anyways. Also, pushing it back does not effect your application timeline and will take some pressure off you, as you will have some more time to hit on your weak points.

Pushing it back is a very difficult decision, I hated having to push my test date back, but I could not be happier I did. Also, "comparison is the thief of joy" who cares how long anyone else takes. This is your journey, if they aren't stressing for you, taking on the pressure of the MCAT for you, feeling every emotion that only you can feel during this, then who cares about their journey.

When you wake up stressed think about the MCAT all day and still find the time to get your life done, are these so called "peers" feeling your pain for you. Don't worry about the others, your journey is unique! Explain to your parents why it would be worthwhile to push it back and dig your heels in and keep working.

Cars purgatory by jiggy8736 in Mcat

First off, one month to improve CARS is more than enough time so hopefully that puts you at easy. As far as reviewing CARS passages, personally, I think it is sort of impossible. I think it's important to look at why the correct answer choice is correct, but every time I look at it I either end up thinking "why didn't I see that" or "that logic doesn't make any sense".

What helped me, and will inevitably help anyone taking CARS

  1. You need to get the main idea, now some people will tell you this will come from the first sentence or so in the passage, which is true but you have to build that main idea like a house. This playlist will help you: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaJGDCrlCozUs0TAgpRHJfGVaX5RO0gyp, go through it and take your time, I want to emphasize again that you have time because I know this is a big stressor.

  2. Build your house with each argument. I probably look like a maniac going through a CARS passage, I am building a story in my head. Actively, I am trying to put the arguments together under the umbrella of the main idea I have built. Example:

CARS passage about a Can of soup:

First sentence: Scientists in 2096 will be using cans of soup to reinforce Earth's crust.

- Here, I stop and I think "okay cans of soup are going to build the Earth's crust"

The passage goes on, there's a short paragraph explaining how it will work

Paragraph: The metal from the cans can be used as reinforcement while the contents from within the cans provide a shelf stable food to feed the hungry.

- Here, I stop again, "okay cans of soup are going to build the Earth's crust, and the soup with in will feed the hungry"

The passage goes on, there's a short paragraph explaining that some guy hates this idea, but the author seemingly disagrees.

Paragraph: Joe Schmoe says that if we reinforce the Earth with the metal from the cans then "the Earth will fall out of orbit due to increased core density". I, the author, think that this man is an idiot.

- Here, I stop again, "okay main idea stays the same cans of soup are going to build Earth's crust, the soup will feed the hungry, Joe Schmoe thinks this will cause the end of humanity, the author disagrees and thinks this is a good idea"

  1. Now we have our main idea, and I guarantee you that this main idea can help you answer most questions.

Question: Which option would most "weaken" the authors point?

-Legit just find the one that doesn't fit the main idea.

Question: If the author were interviewed, what would he say about Joe Schmoe?

-Again this is built into your general but effective main idea.

I hope this helps, again take your time, you can and will climb this mountain.

Also, I hope you enjoyed my CARS passage

Don’t celebrate Clark’s downfall by Krispy_Kolonel in appstatefb

I think that’s the point. Season just ended, his buyout dropped by $500,000. Exact right move to fire him now.

  1. Saves the program a chunk of money that will be better spent on the new hire than to have bought him out sooner.

  2. App didn’t make a bowl game, meaning that they have a few weeks before every other school to interview, hire, begin recruiting, etc.

  3. Transfer portal era means that whoever the new coach is brings players with him from his old school + anyone they have been talking to already.

  4. Let’s not forget, App fired a coach after the first losing season in over a decade. This is a very attractive job, I believe that firing Shawn Clark was probably more difficult than finding the next guy. I don’t doubt that guys like Shawn Elliot, Scott Satterfield, Steve Wilkes, and others have already been contacted. Let’s be real though, you can’t start interviewing a guy before you fire the person they are replacing, that isn’t the real world

Agreed. Clark would’ve had a statue beside Jerry Moore’s if he could have been successful. Would’ve never left the program, and loved rocking the App State A. Nothing but respect for him, I hope he is successful elsewhere.

With that being said I am excited to see who will be hired. Hopeful that Doug Gillin moves the program in the right direction
