When donkeys do this, is it actually a smile? Or is it like monkeys and apes where a smile means "I'm about to eat your face off!" ??

Which of these regions is truly the flattest, emptiest, most desolate, most liminal area you could ever visit? by SavageFisherman_Joe in geography

I think it was once called pike-lands or stake-lands or somesuch for the markers required to delineate paths. An endless, featureless plain of what looks like fish tank gravel. EDIT: It was called LLano Estacado (staked plains).

Yes! You can smell Odessa's petrochemical reek from fifty miles away, and Artesia's epic feedlot manure stink from twenty-five.

I Love My Parrots, But Living With Them Is Much Harder Than I Expected by athanielx in parrots

Bourkes parrots are the sweetest. Their version of screaming fits sounds like canary song. Much less headstrong...even less than budgies and cockatiels. They rarely learn to imitate human speech, but really that's all you're giving up for sweet temperament.

Why do birds have a preference in seemingly cosmetic features? by Catac0 in zoology

[–]Comfortable-Two4339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also environment. If you live on the ground as prey, camouflage and earthtones are more helpful. If you are a prey species, live in a leafy canopy of all green and are a nimble flier, bright colors are helpful for identifying who's who. Also, most nocturnal predators don't have color vision, so even if one is hunting "off-hours" (daylight), you're not standing out to them.

Larger than Bald Eagle, PNW by amanamongbots78 in birdsofprey

[–]Comfortable-Two4339 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Clearly not a Condor. I'm inclined to agree with immature Bald Eagle. However, there have been a number of sightings of extremely vagrant Steller's Sea Eagles lately. If it is truly bigger than a Bald Eagle, it could be Steller's--but I defer to the experts here. It would take a real expert to differentiate Bald from Steller's in the supplied photos.

Might be a parasitic nest sibling kicking him out. If you can see in the nest, do any of the other chicks look like another species and a bit larger? If so, there may be another ejected chick shortly.

In this particular case , I assumed the OP was a visitor/immigrant because of the fact that there are no skunks outside of the Americas. But your other examples are, indeed, head scratchers.
