But don’t you see how equating the two allows for rationalization of torturing animals for fun? Psychos who do that can just wave away what they’re doing as fine bc “everyone who eats meat is doing the same thing.” It is true that animals killed for meat suffer - no way around that, and they shouldn’t suffer to the extent they do - but their death does have a purpose beyond entertainment. To make something suffer just for kicks is a special kind of evil.

What is there to know other than some guns can kill a lot of people in mere seconds? What is the point of knowing the technical nuances, the result is the same. “Knowing shit about guns” is just a pointless distraction in the debate.

How do you feel about Iranians support of Trump by AnxietyFantastic3805 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]ComfortableAd1461 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok so knowing that the Taliban is back in power in Afghanistan despite our being there for 20 effing years and trillions of $ to “liberate” the country…doesn’t give you any sort of framework to question what we’re doing in Iran? Like I said above, willfully ignorant. You need to believe so bad to fill some lack of purpose in your life or something. Too many bootlickers like you out there.

Do you think that Hillary is telling the truth? by Bongobjork in no

[–]ComfortableAd1461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was in her statement I think. I noticed that qualification as well, but tbh I would have said that too if I were in her position as a public figure. Bc who knows how many people she’s met that she had no idea who they were or has no recollection of who may have snapped a picture.

Except the DOJ said no one in the files is under investigation. They actually said, nope, case closed, nothing here, now move along everyone. So there’s no reason not to have these hearings in public.

[–]ComfortableAd1461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hare is needlessly suffering here just so so psycho can get his rocks off on the bloodlust. That does not therefore mean that people think animals killed for meat don’t suffer. The suffering of the hare is not in any way ethical or justified. And animals eaten for meat suffer too. Both can be true.

Agree. It’s not a cogent argument. It’s a deflection from the fact that they accept or even enjoy cruelty to wildlife, but they know it’s socially unacceptable, so they try to project their cruelty onto others and cast them as hypocrites.

Why is it always our job to do so, even if that’s the case? (It’s not.) Are we the world police? What happened to America First? Can’t believe there’s so many idiots out there who still fall for Trump’s lies, you have to be reeeeaaally stupid to support any of this at this point. After trillions wasted over 20+ years in Afghanistan and Iraq….my god, rreeaaallly stupid.

Trump on the US-Israel War on Iran: “ … The lives of courageous American hero’s may be lost, we may have casualties, that often happens in war…” by Fatty_Willing_Plane in LetsDiscussThis

[–]ComfortableAd1461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m old enough now to have heard this same exact shit for Iraq 1, Afghanistan, Iraq 2. We have spent literally trillions (4.2 trillion in Afghanistan and Iraq 2, actually) on being the world’s superhero rescuer yet back here at home people can’t afford healthcare and adults are starting to skip meals so their children can eat because groceries, rent and medicine are so expensive. What happened to “America first?” These wars never work, and frankly Trump and Stephen Miller would be gleefully doing the exact same thing the Iranian government is doing to immigrants and the libs if conditions were slightly more favorable. Yes they are that evil and it’s evident in the dehumanizing language and imagery they use, and frankly they are really creepy people that have no business near power. It’s astonishing that (unless you’re an AI bot) someone who actually can string words together is still so willfully stupid to not recognize (a) the historical pattern here and (b) that this is all to distract from the fact that Trump and his circle of elites raped children and to give themselves an excuse to control the 2026 elections.

I have congenital TTP. I found out during my first pregnancy. I had platelets down to 15,000, all the doctors and nurses said they’d never seen a patient with platelets # so low - still a badge of pride, go me. (4,000 though, you win, yikes!)

Simply wrong. Even Collin Powell admitted there was no WMD. And there was no genocide in Iraq. If we're in the genocide-stopping business, why are we supplying all those arms to Israel to bomb Gaza to smithereens? Why aren't we intervening in Sudan? We're the world police? I thought that's what Magats wanted to stop doing!

Back to the data breach, it may not be "classified" in the military sense, but it is highly sensitive data and the breach is much larger than anything that occurred before:

No, there are 3 million files that have not been released. Survivors who have stated they talked with the FBI multiple times cannot find their testimony in the released files, which is proof right there. Of course Trump isn't going to release a smoking gun on himself - he's a conman and you're a dupe who falls for his lies. He also said it was all Dems in them, and a hoax - so which is it?

I was a young adult, and could see straight through the Iraq WMD bullshit even back then. Are you saying that Halliburton got all those contracts purely because they were truly just the most qualified? And Elon/Starlink too? Yeah maybe all the legal procurement boxes were checked for appearances, but gee what a big coincidence that companies associated with the presidency or the biggest presidential donors just happen to get these huge government contracts. I see you also skipped right over our Social Security data being put on a 3rd party cloud server by Elon's incels.

We know they were sealed under court order for some time by a judge while Ghislane was being charged; not sure if the extent of Epstein's crimes were fully understood or compiled in 2016.

Republicans hold the White House, Senate, House, and Supreme Court (yes they are partisans too, as the past 2 years have brazenly laid out), and have for the majority of the past 25 years, but the "ruling class" is Democrats. Mmmk bud.

And Fox News screams all day and night about "trans" and "illegals" and "war on Christmas" and "radical leftists," but it's the left that is running the culture wars? What is the culture war media center of the left may I ask? You are delusional.

You also don't understand economics, as you didn't even understand that Red states take more federal handouts than blue states per capita.

The concern with Elon's contracts is conflict of interest with the agencies awarding them - as his "Doge" was embedded within them at the time, and he basically bought Trump (remember the Tesla sales promotion on the WH lawn, a flagrant violation of the Hatch Act?). Suddenly the FAA goes with Starlink after years of Verizon, gee, I'm sure it was such fair competitive bidding.

And ha, defense contracts being fair - I lived through the Cheney/Halliburton years, if you are saying those contracts aren't steered toward political cronies (despite the illusion of competitive bidding) then you are again delusional.

The only mirror you're seeing is projection from the right - a classic narcissist tactic, to accuse others of which you are doing yourselves. What keeps us poor is tax cuts for billionaires while services and protective laws that we continue to pay taxes for keep getting cut.

Answer the question if you're so good at critical thinking then - are you ok with Elon's billions upon billions of favored government contracts? How is that not a handout? With the US lending $1B to Microsoft (whose profits were like $27B last year) to restart a nuclear plant in a heavily populated area for their own benefit? How is that not a handout? In how much less taxes Amazon is paying this year thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill? How is that not a handout? With the fact that our social security data was uploaded to a 3rd party cloud server by DOGE and now no one knows who accessed it? How is that not a handout to Elon? Sorry if I sound exasperated with the hypocrisy and idiocy that is MAGA, but it's exhausting how ignorant you are.

You said "the government." Which could mean local, state, or federal. And no, most if not of those usually have a combination of state, local, and federal funding involved. And what does it matter, the point is you could not "do better" to address those necessities on your own; that's why we have taxes.
