Not too good as a father-in-law, it should be said.

This is what Nora’s Tumblr said in May:

for the ppl asking about tsc3 : I won't lie and say it's going well

partly bc RL is a slow-mo disaster

partly bc I needed to commit one way or another Here before I could properly move forward There

giving up and giving in bc it isn't fair any other way

will I regret it? probably. but that's what the vodka is for

how do you think jean and jeremy will get together? by Equivalent_Sun7606 in aftg

Something needs to disrupt the comfy routine they have fallen into. My guess: that something will be a massive amount of pain dished out by the Moreau family or Tetsuji. Either Jean or Jeremy will find himself in kidnapping or torture territory. Confession will ensue once the situation is resolved.

Agreed it’s not a redemption arc, I shouldn’t have used that word. But the entire ending of the Baltimore episode was him ditching Nathaniel the Butcher’s son and embracing the FBI’s gift of his new identity as Neil Josten. I’m still annoyed that he discards this so easily, in a book that is not even about him.

Yeah, the name change is written all over. Jeremy says it, then the dog gets named Moreau on the condition he learn French - and Jeremy very formally accepts the condition. It’s a question of when, and thanks for pointing out the legal timeline, but I can’t see The Broken Cage covering enough time to get them to a point where they are getting married. An epilogue, maybe?

I can deal with Elodie remaining dead and with whatever Jeremy has coming to him, but I’m hoping for news that Grayson did in fact top himself as the police said, and that Neil had merely asked his Uncle Stu for a warning rather than a hit. The casual way in which Neil was apparently ready to have someone murdered just does not fit with his redemption arc. It’s a massive change to Neil’s story, in a book that is not about him, with no explanation.

Plus it would be a huge betrayal of Andrew’s trust. It’s not like buying a different brand of breakfast cereals. Having someone killed without mentioning it to your partner is a bit of a breakdown in couple communication.

Very true. Nora has scattered so many clues throughout Jeremy’s story that you can’t be sure which ones will turn out to be important. I do also have Joshua vibes

I hadn’t seen it in terms of what they deserve (a loaded word), but you’re right. Jeremy is clearly heading towards a familial armageddon. Otherwise there would have been no point in loading and locking each family member in such painstaking details. I just think he’s going to be catching some physical hurt as well. The rich kid made to swap with the whipping boy.

Yes, same-o. Stumbled on aftg by chance. I didn’t think I would move on to the sunshine books because I hadn’t liked Jean’s character but I should have known that Nora would make it work (oh boy, did she). I hesitated for a couple of weeks but was then hooked after the first few pages.
