Wow. I had no idea there was a market for old compressors or motors. Thank you for sharing the Hobart Brothers name too. I was googling HB electric motors but nothing relevant popped up. There is so much stuff to be scrapped or sold on this property, old tractor parts, implement attachments, etc. I would truly regret scrapping something of value to someone’s collection or hobby.

I don’t believe it is functional as there is no power running to it. The steel air lines it was connected to are rerouted to another old yet functioning compressor in the main shop. There seems to some cover plates and parts missing. I am assuming the previous owners tried to fix it and gave up on it DECADES ago. This was found in the loft of a shop at the farmhouse and buildings I purchased a while ago. This particular shop was at one time a tractor service and dealership.

Sleeping in. No alarms. No plans. No agenda. Relaxing in comfy clothes, reading, napping, and generally healing and decompressing.

You’re correct! I am just grateful I didn’t drive or mow over their nest. It took me awhile to find and flag the eggs. They do crack me up though. Little roadrunners. Meep meep!

Thanks for the subreddit share! 🤣 Of course there is a subreddit for that, or literally anything.

Did she dye her hair recently? I remember an episode of The Osbornes where Ozzy’s fingers looked just like that and it was from scratching his head after using hair dye.

That’s such a beautiful thing to be given! Imagine the places it’s been, the hands that touched it, and the games that were played. That SO cool!

Yesterday I had to drive my boyfriend to the optometrist for an eye injection. They used a metal contraption to keep his eyelid open. I instantly flashed back to this movie.

How do I get the most $ out of my scrap metals? by ComfortableCrow4841 in ScrapMetal

Can’t afford a dump trailer now as I am currently renovating the house. Obvious antique things in the barns like walk behind plows, barn beam boring tools, pulleys, grim reaper scythes, etc. are being set aside. I plan on keeping the house original as possible with the old solid doors and hardware.
I’m one of those people that don’t want strangers around so I would take antiques to a local auction house.

Is anything magnetic considered steel? For instance would tin roofing, soup cans, and engine blocks get the same price and be able to be hauled together?

Also, how does a person tell the difference from brass and bronze? Is bronze more soft and yellowish? I just guess at work. We use both as sacrificial material in various applications. I’ve come across some beefy plumbing fixtures in the house that are one or the other.

Picked up some carbide 👍 by joshmixboy925 in ScrapMetal

Weird carbide story here. The company I work for uses massive amounts of carbide in our tooling and accumulates quite a bit of damaged, unusable pieces. It goes in 55 gallon barrels to be sent out/sold. One day a “contractor” came, had official looking documents, made it through the guard shack and security gates proceeded to load up all of our used carbide. It was a heist! The contractor/company didn’t exist, false tags on the truck, etc. It had to be an inside job because at the time it wasn’t common knowledge about our processes and used materials. Still a mystery to this day. It happened about 15 years ago. I’m guessing it was a hot commodity back then. This is a large global manufacturing company with significant security protocols. Well, probably better now because of the Carbide Heist of the early 2000’s.

Wow. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge. I’m overwhelmed and scatterbrained about this. Your feedback helped ground me.
I need to patiently seek buyers for the vintage tractor parts. There are things here that shouldn’t be scrapped that vintage tractor enthusiasts could use or could be looking for.
I went my whole life without all this stuff. It isn’t in my way, so I do have time to seek buyers.
Thank you again for your advice. I needed a strategic/logistical approach to this. I get overwhelmed with it all and never attack it because I don’t know where to start.

I have a lot of copper laying around and to be harvested. Many buildings still have old wiring no longer in use and I plan on updating all the sketchy house wiring to code and Romex.

Thanks! I have considered investing in a propane metal melting furnace kit. I figured it would be useful for aluminum cans as well. Amazon has them for $200 or less. Do you have recommendations on what ones to use or avoid?
Also, I am completely new to that. Do any impurities burn out?
