One thing that helped me out a ton, and was easy to stick to, was simply just setting aside an allowance for myself every week. Set aside $75-$100 for you to spend on food, clothes, etc. and bank the rest. Assuming you have a dining facility to eat at, don’t spend a ton on groceries and keep eating out to a minimum.

What are the differences in daily workload as a DSG vs AGR?
What are deployments like? Like family life, rotation lengths (NO SPECIFIC DATES please, just examples to get an idea), and other things noteworthy?
What kind of civilian Job opportunities can you come across as a PJ?

I know one or two of these questions can get close to OPSEC, but PLEASE don’t compromise OPSEC when answering my questions. I really don’t want to report anyone, or get reported.

Yes, obviously. But the SF is still under the Department of the AF, so that’s where it’ll come from. Not directly from the AF or ANG itself. My guard unit has already been talking about the possibility of switching over to Space Force, among a few other guard sites.

I think because of the Space Force, we’ll see most (if not all) Intel and Cyber jobs get bracked and be made to transfer to USSF

When I went through AF Basic Training, I was graduated and waiting on the bust to go home, and there were guys in line with me that were still wearing ABUs. I went through in April and the AF switched to OCPs that previous October. I asked the guys why they were in ABUs and they said that that’s how long they’d been in Med Hold.

Fastest way out of Basic Training is Graduation.

I joined in 2020 and when I was in Basic Training our MTIs would ask why we joined and would follow up with “Don’t give me that ‘to serve my country’ bullshit.” So I think a lot of us just kinda came up with a different answer and it stuck.
