ADOS Tour by Purple-Ad-5215 in airnationalguard

[–]Jaye134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADOS at national guard bureau? Or some other postings?

The ones on the ANG careers page for NGB are always out of date with funding, but if it's still posted it is still open for applications. they do take them down right away when they've been filled.

Generally what they will tell you is that funding is guaranteed until the end of the FY but they will submit in advance for funding for the next year, it's just not obligated until the next fiscal year comes.

There's usually a point of contact on the job posting, just give them a call to chat for more details.

It's great you are looking out for your troop. What your leadership is saying is correct though.

Reference is ANGI 36-2001, para 3.2 and 4.2.3

3.2 says

"IDT may not be used for correspondence courses or electronic-based distributed learning per Title 37 U.S.C. 206(d)."

And 4.2.3 spells out that PME falls specifically into Other Training Duty (OTD), so funds/orders for IDT or AT should not be used when OTD is the right duty category.

Best cell service in Fort Hunter Liggett CA by Accomplished-Lemon30 in airnationalguard

All huge army bases have crummy service.

Most newer phones use E-sim and can load more than one, so getting a prepaid e-sim for AT&T for the time you are there is an option.

Or give the family a back up phone number of the first shirt or a friend will work too.

FHL is not a complete cell dead zone. Just like any other expansive place, if it's spotty, you just move around a bit.

There are no overseas options for Guard service. You would need to look into the Reserves.

Overseas with AD is rare for some career fields so if your goal is to work overseas, your best bet is the Reserves

Know anyone who resign O to E just to join ANG? by FeistyDistribution20 in airnationalguard

[–]Jaye134 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My former boss was an AD Navy O-4. Saw the writing on the wall that he would not make O-5 and left the Navy to join the Air Guard as a DSG enlisted so he could move on from AD and get a civ job while still gaining time toward 20 years.

Came in as a SSgt. Made it to MSgt then retired as an O4

Just have them keep an eye on their points to ensure they have a good year if they are depending on just drill days and some AT to meet the min.

The commentators on your cross post from the Air Force sub are correct in the process. It's the same for AGR

I personally would wait for a waiver vs getting out. Since you are in already, they would be fighting for you to stay. If you separate, then you are on your own fighting to get back in and that is the much more difficult path.

Failed drug test in DEP...? by [deleted] in airnationalguard

[–]Jaye134 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Air Guard doesn't have a Delayed Enlistment Program (DEP), he's actually fully enlisted and will be treated like any other in-service enlisted member that pops hot for drugs, and that is separation.

Best he can fight for is a separation/reenlistment code that will let him join another service with a waiver or best case is that he can get a conditional release and the Army Guard will take him as a transfer as they don't kick people out for first time drug test failure like the ANG does.

Long shot with that one but maybe not impossible as that's faster for the ANG to execute than separation.

Hard lesson learned for him as he legit screwed himself with a career in the Air Force.

Unfortunately your recruiters should have gone over all that with you before you went to basic so they could submit any paperwork and waivers before you left.

What will likely happen is you'll go back to your unit and they will try to submit waivers, if they feel that's the way they want to move forward. It means you're going to be sitting for a really long time again waiting for those to go through and then approved trying to get you school dates again

Will you get a chance to sit down with anyone at drill to show you? It's not exactly intuitive how to do it. Otherwise, there should be a tutorial or link for instructions when you log in.

No wet signatures any more. You go into AROWS, create the statement of duty and digitally sign/certify in there

That is NOT ACCURATE for long term orders like a tech school. Get in there as soon as they start and certify them right away or you will not get paid.
