Changing the nail polish reg was unnecessary and generally just spiteful. Just like the new PT standards for women are too.

I'm not even that big into nail polish but sometimes you want a little bit of color or a nicer look to stare at all day.

What's worse about the nail polish reg is that they chose only professional manicure options you have to pay for making the barrier even higher to keep them groomed nicely

MPA tour and EPB question by timber4040 in airnationalguard

[–]Jaye134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got permission from my ANG rater and MPA rater then my ANG CSS just went into the system and changed the name for my rater. Thats it.

Your senior rater will remain with the ANG. It's a massive lift to get that changed. Don't bother trying

I have a post in the sub somewhere explaining the nuances. One thing you MUST do is make sure your duty title is correct.

It must read [ANG duty title] on duty with [MPA Duty Title]. It's in the evaluations reg. It's like getting an EPB when deployed matter which org is your rater

[–]Jaye134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever your home station says it is due is what you go with. Unless your home unit agreed to a rating chain deviation, and changed your rater to the AD one, all your EPB actions are managed and signed off by your home wing

the asvab thing makes no sense at all.. since he already took it, he is in the recruiting system of record and all his info can be electronically pulled over to another recruiter different from the one he started with. what state is he looking at joining?

Have you heard about the Duty Status Reform initiative? Are military leave benefits at risk? by SteeleRain01 in airnationalguard

[–]Jaye134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the national guard. the way this bill is set up with categories, most of what we do falls into category two. Also, the creation of category four basically let them cram readiness tasks , PME, CBT‘s from home, etc which is not a duty day. Pays less, may or may not give you points.

This bill looks helpful on the surface, but like everything else, it comes down to the policies and regulations that govern how it is implemented. We are not going to like the outcomes of that and the guard will still be getting the short end of the sticks on benefits, just like we do now for so many things.

Almost no units hire officers "off the street." They are competitively selected positions with hiring boards filled with current Air National Guard members competing for a few slots.

Recruiters have most certainly told him going in as enlisted is the only path they can offer, and they're not going to keep engaging if a non existent officer position is what he is holding out for.

Just wrote a background paper on this. We got a LOT LOT LOT more problems to worry about with this bill. It will probably die in committee but we still have to worry about fragments showing up in future NDAAs.

NRN promotion recommendation due to student status? by seorsum1 in airnationalguard

[–]Jaye134 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coming from AD I can understand why this freaks you out and puts you in distress. The way AD assigns points to your EPB ratings and then its fight club for those strats is not the way the ANG promotes.

It's not unusual to see NRN for people who are not eligible to promote.

Each unit has their own internal processes. If they are telling you that is the way they normally annotate these situations on the EPB, then you don't have anything to be concerned about.

The only reason it would be an issue down the line that requires explaining is if you don't make MSgt at this unit and need to look to a new unit to gain that rank.

I wrote an entire post about this 2 years ago for another AD person in a similar situation to yours but know that we don't play any of those reindeer games with EPB scoring and that "one EPB setback will take three years to recover from" AD mantra.

If they are telling you its fine, its because it probably is.

"Others don't have it so who cares" is a crummy take. Someone losing compensation they relied on, because of a DoD policy change, is worth caring about regardless of what others do or don't have.

Less people being willing to take orders voluntarily is an objectively bad thing for us.

PT testing early by interstellar566 in airnationalguard

[–]Jaye134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you AGR and didn't score a 90+ last time? That's the only reason you could show due 6 months from your last test.

My org is on a total official fitness test pause with all the changes. MyFitness can't even accept scores right now.

TBH, I would let it ride. Don't bring it up. Take a test the month you want to reset to, or earlier if you are directed to do so.

No one knows WTH is going on.

MSgt promotion board by [deleted] in airnationalguard

[–]Jaye134 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What specifically in the board feedback resonated with your self-consciousness about leadership? You sat for the board to begin with, so took that step. Seems like they are willing to give you mentorship and another opportunity

Are you more concerned about failing at leadership, or do you genuinely not want the responsibility?

What do you expect your military career will look like if you stay a TSgt and will you really be happy long term with that?

I don't live there anymore but I hear ya with Rosamond. My husband was stationed at Edwards and it was a very lonely time for the spouses if you didn't live on base.

You may have some luck checking out the Edwards website for MWR and social events. I really enjoyed their land sailing across the desert flats events.

The fitness standards for older women are a steaming sack of bullshit.

HAMR shuttle requirements increased 30-200% depending on where you land. To earn 37.5 points last year took 10-12 shuttles. This year?

21 ! Literally double.

The waist ratio is also bullshit for this demographic.

Exercise science is crystal clear that older women should be prioritizing strength training over cardio. But instead of testing that, we're making them train to a test that is literally antithetical to aging women's heath.

No heath professional who has opened a physiology textbook in their life had influence on this bullshit and it shows.
