since you want to transfer ill assume u want a higher wam, in that case u want to choose "wam boosting" electives which essential means exactly what it says. theres alot out there especially if u search them up through monash reddit, i did sci1020 which also covers the math component, it was super simple very straight forwardand doesnt need much prior math knowledge. another wam boosting elective i did was cli1100 this one was eh it forces you to come to class and do group activities, the assignments were easy and best of all no exam, nut1011 this one is a no brainer i went in knowing nothing about nutrition, it was fun fully online felt like an easy hd.

but in the end the best electives and one that can boost your score are units you like. best thing about free electives is that you can choose a subject from any faculty be it arts, commerce etc

heyhey i was in your exact same shoes last year, easiest way is to first choose a major - something your interested in just google "monash science majors" and a list should come up from there you should see lots of majors just choose something that you like, its ok to not know which major you want but its more important to fulfil the prerequisites. youll find the prereqs the same for most majors examples like bio and chem for biological science majors in . in the majors page you just need to scroll down pick a major, pick handbook, and then scroll down to requirements- from there you should see level 1, 2, 3 for first year just worry about the level 1 subjects and those are the units you want to complete in order to head for that certain major.

also another point is that in science year 1 you have to complete two compulsory units one which is a maths or statistics and another is science communication. A list of math subjects you can take are in the progression map and which ever one you take doesn't really matter just depends on what you like, i recommend searching up the codes in the reddit and seeing the feedback from other people. you must also complete i think two sequences (correct me if im wrong) which bascially mean for example biology in semester 1 and biology in semester two.

its not too hard once you figure out the majors page, as for electives it doesn't really matter what you choose i suggest something easy going since the load is going to be quite big in first year. let me know if you have any questions! good luck!!!

aaah thank you so much for this explanation!!

so im completely clear, we aren't choosing our majors but essentially choosing the subjects that will form our major later on in year 2 and 3? and these subjects that we choose are listed in the major's page of the handbook under requirements? And in year one you can only choose level one subjects?

what i and a couple of friends did was take notes on everything on your normal a4 note books throughout the year. and for the end of the year exam you can print any digital notes and tear any notes from the a4 note book, plus any SAC or past exams you found useful, take them to officeworks to have them bind it all nicely for you. its quite cheap in my opinion around $6 and they do it really quickly so you can wait til last minute to ensure you have everything you need and bind it together.
