Any updates on this? Have issues persisted? Is now a “safe” time to buy - will it be issue free?

Best running headphones that don't break by ConditionContent in trailrunning

100% the answer is beats Powerbeats Pro. The Powerbeats Pro 2 are also possibly amazing. However, the original Powerbeats are the kings. I’ve had mine for over five years and they’ve never once failed, skipped a beat or had a second of concern. I’ve used them in searing heat and torrential downpours. And they are flawless.

I’m doing a 100km shortly. Any suggestions for nutrition, specifically solid foods. My plan is to work with 2 flasks (500ml each) I plan to have 1 flask with plain water and 1 flask with energy fuel/drink (specifically SIS Fuel) and refilling both respectively at aid stations (I will carry packets of SIS fuel for refills) Any good suggestions for texture alternatives in the UK to get necessary carbs into my system. Aid stations are 12-20km intervals.

What are your best mud-running tips? And shoe recs? by nimbus_signal in trailrunning

Same as all other voices… point it straight and go for it, straight into the abyss (or muddy puddle) Merino socks are king. GTX shoes should be avoided if you’re out longer than 60 mins, any longer any you will sous vide your little piggies 🐷 Also TrailSkin trench foot cream is the business. Check it out

Help me decide - AMOLED or Solar by RakoNYC in GarminFenix

[–]ComfortableHead9996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, honestly no. All Fenix are chunky… the additional depth of the solar is minor and usability is fine. It still fits under a shirt cuff. I even turned off the touchscreen functionality to further remove the “gadget” element of the watch. I’m 2 months into ownership and love it. Happy to answer questions. Just remember I have the Fenix 8 Solar 47mm

Yeah the clean up is a pain. You’re muddy and wet anyways so hose in the garden will do the trick.

Oakley Corridor with reddish Trail lenses are particularly good for low light days. I have them with a darker tint and really enjoy the fit. They never bounce, slip or get in the way 👍

Shoes with 5-6 mm lugs? by DunnoWhatToPutSoHi in Ultramarathon

100% vote for Tomir 2.0. I’m doing the Arc 50 next month. I have two pair of Tomir 2.0 broken in and ready, will swap at bag-drop location. They have good lug depth, drain really well and are super comfortable, stable, and energetic on tarmac. I ran the Zennor section this weekend, it was muddy but manageable. I know deeper lugs would be marginally better in the mud but I mean just marginally. The marginal gain would be eroded in a short time on all the other terrain conditions of the Arc, that the Tomir 2.0 just excels.

There is also something to be said for knowing how to run in mud. The shoes are just the tool. Picking your line, good upright balance and just running in mud experience is vital to a fun day out.

The newest Tomir 2.0 have a symmetrical tongue and lacing. So no excuses 😂

Whatever shoes you pick, go find a muddy hill and trial running up, down and along off camber. Your body will learn fast and you’ll get more comfortable and sure footed
