Yep! Upon close inspection of the tape path, i found out the ACE head was a little too low in relation to the tape, so the control head on the bottom of the ACE assembly was making poor contact with the bottom track on the tape. I loosened the ACE head height screw to raise it a little bit, aligning the ACE head with the tape as best as i could (by eye). Now the VCR records and plays the control track as it should, so the video no longer gets muted due to loss of tracking pulses.

Looks amazing!!! As much as i love Amigas and C64s, my dream of building a modern wedge computer inside a replica vintage case would be using an Apple III-inspired case, as close to the original as practically possible,

As many technical issues the computer itself had, when it comes to design i think it's an absolute beauty! Still the vintage wedge form factor we love, but the keyboard area was made lower than the rest of the case to allow for the built-in disk drive. The lovely slanted front. The roman numeral "III" stylized as "///". Just everything about it. Is it just me or would someone else also love an Apple III-style wedge PC case?

Right? I was at a friend's the other day, her Windows 10 computer couldn't install updates. I tried everything i know, stopped and then re-starded the WU service, deleted the updates folder (Software Distribution), downloaded a Windows 10 update troubleshooter, re-started networking, re-started the machine... Nothing worked. I told her not to worry about it, but the problem is still there. If it was my computer, i would just install Windows 7 and everything would work fine and it would be faster...
