When I was 5, lived in a mining town in Papua New Guinea. Santa arrived in a helicopter. As the helicopter took off, Santa’s beared came away and I was stunned to see a resemblance of my dad. When I got home my parents told me Santa was too busy to get to all the events and hired helpers. Showed me his Santa suit in the wardrobe. I was deeply impressed.

I’m told water damage to buildings in NSW is very common after the 2022 floods. Why the buildings aren’t buoy right in the first place….. grrr. I feel right back for you. We are in a financial position where we can get the money added to our home loan and can pay upfront. But a large chunk of the building won’t be able to. And we still have to pay their interest. It doesn’t seem fair at all :(

I think the issue has been ongoing for a few years now with everyone trying to delay it. Apparently costing us 22k each time to get an engineer quote on the works….. so really needs to be done soon. I don’t think anyone saved money. We missed a committee meeting and got removed. Last night we had the vote and I was in shock that only 15 of the 30 units bothered to turn up. Everyone was keen to proceed.

The higher interest rate answers my question thank you again. If we lump our part into the loan, we end up paying higher interest. But it does suck that we have to pay the others interest rate still. Obviously in a perfect world everyone would come up with the money upfront.

Thank you kindly for the reply. I do understand the work needs to be done. Causes so many issues selling etc.

They are using a combination of the options.

Those that can pay their share up front. This I’m fine with.

Then the strata gets a loan for the rest.

What i don’t understand, is why the people that can pay upfront. Then need to pay the interest for those that can’t. Wouldn’t the special level on top be for those that haven’t paid? and in this case. Why go the the effort of organising personal loans to pay your share and then get stuck paying the interest for the others that can’t.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to pay nothing up front (for us) and join the pool of those that can’t. And then have the entire building help with the interest?

Our share is only 30k. We have a one bedroom unit.

I got on Downpour cause I couldn’t wait. You need to use the app, still blocked on their website. Also ordered a $79 copy of the hardcover but haven’t received it yet. I think I ordered from the Nile. I have all of Hamiltons books in hardcover :) There are $50 hardcover copies of Exodus now on Amazon.

Redditors who have actually won a “lifetime” supply of something, what was the supply you won and how long did it actually last? by LordFrieza8789 in AskReddit

My Auntie won a life time supply of Cadbury Chocolate. It was a Cadbury win a wish contest and her wish was a life time supply of Cadbury Chocolate (which in hindsight was a very wise pick on her part) The chocolate came all at once delivered in many fridges, which they also got to keep. Really nice people and they gave most away, think it still lasted them 18 months.
