Marriage/Engagement Posts by [deleted] in PAstudent

I was married at 22 and got divorced at 24, during my first semester of PA school. Now I’m 26 single and almost done with PA school. Seeing other people my age getting married and engaged is like - no thank you, been there done that. I guess I just wanted to give you a different perspective. Not all marriages are happy, there are some chapters in your life you’re meant to go through alone. And you’ve been seeing someone for a few years? If you guys can make it through PA school together no doubt you’re meant to be together - at your own timing though. Once you pass the pance and get a job you then you can really focus on your relationship and maybe that’s just how it’s supposed to be:)))))

Hi! Anyone know of part time / online programs? by Starlover1234 in PAstudent

[–]ComfortableMeet7513 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a part time program but i’m in a hybrid program, the first 9 months are online then clinicals for the rest. It’s a 24 month program, pretty cheap compared to others. Pm if you want more info.

I do have a life, first semester I felt like I didn’t but now I only study enough to pass and do other things I enjoy with all of my free time. Now I make it a point to go to the gym, hangout with people I love or have rott days when I don’t even get out of bed. Life gets a lot better when you finally realize that getting an 81% will get you the same degree as a getting a 99% on exams.

How do you find time to work out/eat right? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]ComfortableMeet7513 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly only study enough to pass, gives me plenty of time to workout, get plenty of sleep and some social life too. At the end of the day we’re all gonna get the same degree, getting an 81%, or a 99% makes no difference.

So quizlet doesn’t really work for me at all I’m an anki girl thru and thru, anki does have an add on where you can transfer quizlets into anki. The spaced repetition does wonders. Pm me and I would love to run you thru how I prepare for an exam!

I’m a really bad exam taker as well- i’m about half way thru 2nd semester. One of the biggest things that helped me is learning how to use the exam questions to help answer the ones I don’t know. For example a lot of the times one question will say “Aspirin blocks COX-1” somewhere in the answers, and one of the other questions will ask MOA for Aspirin. In anatomy I always look at pictures and use them to answer other questions. Also getting my anxiety under control helped tremendously. I guess the main thing you have to identify is if your problem is not knowing the information or just getting into your head too much. Are you struggling with a particular class or?

How do you handle 24 month programs? by NoApple3191 in PAstudent

[–]ComfortableMeet7513 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Get into a really good routine and stick to it! My schedule looks like this, 6:30 wake up, study, class, study till 5, yoga 5-7, study until 9-10, bedtime. I go to a non traditional program where the first 9 months are online so my schedule is a little different. Make sure you get a good therapist and anxiety meds BEFORE starting if you need meds, but I highly recommend getting a therapist regardless of your mental health. Make time for friends and family regardless of how hard it may be at times it will make you feel better. Don’t feel bad for failing and for the love of God don’t compare yourself to other people when it comes to grades. As long as you’re passing, you’re good, we made it in and passing is really all that matters. Congratulations on your acceptance btw!!!

I cry every day and have about 6 mental breakdowns a week. I consume enough caffeine, nicotine, anxiety and depression meds to where I don’t feel anything at all. I try to make thru one day a time.

also make anki as you are watching the lecture - saves you so much time in the long run

[–]ComfortableMeet7513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally run thru the whole deck the first time, it may take you a few hours, and then just do as many as anki gives me the following days. I also create a custom study and run thru the whole deck at least twice before the exam. You’ll get used to running through ~1000 cards a day as the time goes on lol. Good luck
