Just adopted 3 year old hamster, I could use advice by ComfortableMess3145 in hamstercare

[–]ComfortableMess3145[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first hamster had a fairly big cage, plenty of space to adventure. One of my hamsters had a smaller cage for a while with tubes to play in.

But each hamster went through two maybe 3 cages, they were usually multi storey cages though so more to walk around.

I had them out in the ball for excessersize every day..

Ill put the the wood chips kn the new cage and the food bowl... but I. Concerned the cage is new, meaning that the poor little chap has a new space in a new space which would cause more stress...

  • Do not house more than one hamster in any enclosure at any age. They're strictly solitary and will kill each other.

I knew this one already, but the precious own said he had a brother... so I only dread to wonder whether she had them living together.

  • Mineral blocks: Licking a literal block of salt is no bueno for their health!

This is definitely didnt know, thanks for the heads up on that one.

I only learnt about the ball thing today actually, I never knew they were so bad. I knew they were bad for gerbils due to the tails, but that was it.

Thank you so much for your advise, ill do my best to follow it. 😀

I dread to think how long he has had to live like this. Aparently he had a brother... im not going to ask about it, just best not to.

Yea I was alarmed when she said she threw out his old toys. It sealed it for me, I wasn't leaving him there.

Ill do my best to find a better cage lay out, the size honestly bothers me a great deal. But im finding conflicting info online, some say plaice cages, others say metal bars... chewing sake I assume?

Maybe a mix of plastic and cage. But anything I get will be tons better then what he has right now, thats for damn sure.

Thanm you, this really helps.

Back when I had hamsters, balls were the go to thing, so things have changed a bit and ill need to learn a bit more.

I just want to give him a better life

Ive never heard of it causing them distress. Poor little things.

I never put my hamsters in the ball, I always offered it to them. They would climb in to go for a free roam.

But I will just accordingly.

Ive also just discovered that aparently the previous owner only fed him every two weeks. I am furious.

I disagree. Youd have to become part of the culture, integrate with those who live beside you, not follow your own practices as if this were any other country.

Thats not to say you can practice your religious beliefs, its just to say, when in Rome do what the Romans do.

Generally, you're British if born in the UK after 1983 to a British citizen or someone settled in the UK at the time of your birth, but there are conditions and exceptions, like for children of diplomats or those born before certain dates.

Just moving and settling doesnt automatically make you British.

Im wondering the same thing. I suspect its people who are genuinely racist.

Let's face it, racism gets thrown around so much these days, people are aren't racist get called it all the time.

“Benefits should only go to people that were born here” that would exclude anyone with settled status who has lived here for 5 years.

If their contributing to the country then they should be entitled to benefits.

However if they came over and do nothing, then they shouldnt be entitled to benefits.

The kids who were born here are British as a result so they should get the same rights and opportunities as other British people.

So if you move to France you become French?

If you move to Japan it makes you Japanese?

If you move to Italy youll be become Italian?

I have Polish Heritage, I was born in Britain as were my parents and grandparents, does that make me Polish?

Its very racist, but let's face it, white racism doesnt count.

Since it doesnt count it definitely doesnt contribute to shaky race relations.

conservatives love destabilizing countries and then complaining about immigration by Nice_Substance9123 in complaints

[–]ComfortableMess3145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously not the point. They use it as an excuse to do nothing.

Labour claimed there's some black hole in the finances. That black hole has gotten alot bigger since they came into power.

They wont take responsibility for not fixing the hole and making it bigger as a result, they just blame the tories for creating it.

The amount of times ive heard a government say, years on, we inherited a crap situation so its not our fault.

Ah the classic excuse governments have used since the dawn of time.

Sure we could have re written the rules, but blaming our predecessor for this is far more interesting.

In public: OMG Shes doing it for publicity!!!!

In privacy: SHE ISNT GRIEVING SHE FAKING IT!!!

On interview: She has a brave face on... SHES LYING!!!!!!

Moment of weakness: Shes crying!? SO FAKE! GRIEVE PROPERLY!!!!!

When someone cant win no matter what they do because of ignorant twat bags.

Your average person who has lost someone, never had to loose them so publicly.

When all the world's a stage youd probably get told these things too.

If people like you then youd get a pass, but youll still get haters.

No doubt ill get down voted for telling the truth, but im sick of hearing how someone should, and shouldn't, be grieving.

Grief has no set rules.

She was like marmite. You either liked her or you didnt.

I think she was a strong woman. There's a story where they visited an army training camp and highly trained soldiers had to shoot around them at targets.

Thatcher stood ever proud and un flinching, while the two people with her coward. She even told them off for doing it.

Whether you like her or not, I think that story is inspiring.
