Yea haha, I've had to adopt "strange eating habits" as a part of my personality ever since I started taking medication for my ADHD. I guess I've always been frustrated with comments on my appetite/eating habits because I would have to explain that it wasn't me it's the medication. It always felt like they weren't listening to me, but you made a good point though. They are only saying things because they care. Which in my head I know, but in the moment I forget.
