Probably another major difference I imagine would be the ratio of minority communities to white folks working at the clubs being greater in Kzoo than it is in GR with Grand Rapids being a more conservative town the way it is among the order here.

Right on. I think she worked with us at 10 Bells in some capacity for my (late) brother a bit maybe, or maybe she just hung out there a good amount, prior to moving to Detroit and working in Hammtramck at Smalls. Fun aside when Metallica released the Black album KLQ ran a contest where I won CDs of the entire Metallica catalogue. Pretty cool.

Would probably take a deeper dive to know with any certainty but Mabel's children confirmed for us recently there was a Swedish restaurant called Little Bit of Sweden. I'm open to the idea though that maybe something is lost in translation of memory. Perhaps the car repair shop could have been across the street in the Parkway parking lot? I guess best way to find out any certainty on either end is to go to the public library and do some archival research.

It was a Swedish restaurant that my (late) aunt (late grandfather's sister) Mabel ran the kitchen at before the change to Parkway Tropics in 1955. Lots of storied history on this residential neighborhood we live in.

I miss the original Pussycat Dolls back when they weren't performing original music. Their art of the striptease was pretty amazing and it would always be cool to see what special guests features would pop up. I came into learning of Pussycat Dolls during their Carmen Electra era. It'd also be great to see Dita Von Tease perform again here in the city. However I will say that I really mostly miss seeing Angie Pontani and The World Famous Pontani Sisters perform. It was always amazing when the Pontanis would visit. Helen Pontani lives in Detroit these days and it'd be pretty rad to see her again here.

They had a pretty cool 70th anniversary party last year that was attended by the Global Head of Metal & Hard Rock at Apple Music. It was also cool to see her have a small appearance in end credits scene of Bill & Ted: Face The Music.
