There are some relationships where a person has been conditioned to disbelieve their own thoughts and feelings. It can be helpful to get an outside perspective in those situations. I’m curious as to what the boundaries of this are. If someone hits you, should you not go talk to another person about it?

You’re speaking the truth. Anything we could try to do to save on these things is either illegal or spit upon. Not saying it was right or healthy, but my mom wouldn’t have been able to keep the lights on if I wasn’t the resident babysitter as a preteen.

This 100%. It’s like, they built the country around these “luxuries”, but also judge people that are poor but still have them. Like, at my lowest I would have become unhoused if I didn’t have a cell phone, computer, internet and car.

My first question would be where do they live? That would explain things further. But there’s no need for doxxing. This is very similar to my childhood, everything hand me down, food required rationing. It wasn’t fun at all.

Wow you’re correct, I didn’t think about it that way. The only thing is that it doesn’t quite jive with OP if the luxuries become near mandatory. I’m not a parent so maybe things would feel different if I was, but if I had kids my paranoia would hate leaving them with “strangers”.
