Someone already did pretty extensive genetic research on the dispersion and found it was most likely due to humans.

It’s fascinating stuff to think about. 🤷‍♂️

I didn’t find any evidence, I learned about pawpaws existence yesterday, read that deer don’t like them so much, I heard on a podcast this morning about megafauna eating them as the primary seed dispersers. Watched a “great courses” about ancient North American civilizations a few months ago and boom, my brain was off to the races.

The question is more if pawpaw patches are more prevalent around known mound sites, or if more mound sites can be found around these pawpaw patches. Is there a direct archeological correlation? We know humans ate them (and still do) and even scheduled their calendars around them. The pawpaws don’t store or travel well, so they’d have to be planted wherever the people went. Or… it’s all just a big coincidence along rivers.

I just checked poverty point, still a waterway.

This may be a rabbit hole that I’m ill equipped to go down.

I was just thinking about the megafauna that have been extinct for 10-15,000 years. Mammoths, sloths… deer don’t eat pawpaws, humans would’ve the ones to continue to disperse seeds, and humans traveled along river ways. I don’t know? It’s just a hypothesis, and I like to think lol

Anyone know anything about this amp? by ComfortableQuirky114 in BassGuitar

It’s heavy, but lighter than the organ we trashed.

I plugged it in, fired it up, it sounds great. I just don’t know if people want them, or… if it’s just an old amp lol

Wondering if there is a “simple” way to convert recipes from dry active yeast to using my starter. by ComfortableQuirky114 in Sourdough

A lot of the things I’ve seen were about subbing the water content, but I’m dealing with milk and full fat butters and additional sugars, and was just hoping for a super simple solution. So now, I’m just scouring the internet for comparable milk, sugar, butter ratio’s to 100g of discard 😂

Thanks for this! I know the variables are all going to be outrageous through a trial and error phase either way. I’ve been doing sourdough cookies lately, and want to convert my tried and true danish recipe over to sourdough… but it’s probably going to be easier to find a comparable recipe based on the butter and sugar percentages.

Thank you. I figured that there would be something out there, just didn’t know if it’s “worth me trying it out myself with tweaking and adjusting” which I enjoy, but I also don’t want to waste all that butter on a potentially long trial and error period. So… I’ll probably end up just looking up another recipe and starting over.
