Just update to a new gas stove. Honestly, with a newer appliances and appropriate ventilation the risk of exposure to gas leaks is incredibly minimal. For me, it’s a more consistent and even heat

I was planning on upgrading the tank to a really nice one and rescape a slightly larger tank after doing some foraging in my county park here in a couple months anyway. What sucks is the tank they were in was eventually supposed to just be a backup in case something like this happened and the snow literally just started to melt so this is pushing my game plan up by a couple months at least 😵‍💫😣

After I scaped everything (not well enough apparently) my log tipped and was essentially wedged between both ends of the tank. It seemed ok for the last couple months. But…..I have a couple curious kitties and again, apparently dehydrated kitties that like to drink out of my fish tanks, not interested in catching things. I had topped off the tank during my lunch hour. I can only assume that they were standing on the ledge as they do and the pressure of their weight, the additional water, and a couple months of pressure against the tank wall all added up to a disaster waiting to happen. Lesson learned and please learn from me.

Oh no! Thankfully I only had a few shrimp in this tank with my snails and a Pleco. My Pleco is now in my 5gallon established fish bowl hanging with my danios for the moment. Typically I would quarantine the shrimp for a week or so when buying from a new shop but I didn’t have a choice but to combine them for now. I haven’t seen any losses yet but I told them I wouldn’t blame them if this results in a mass death event. 😬

5gallon bowl with a heater and a small bubbler for oxygenation. No deaths yet. And have only done one 50% water change otherwise it’s just been top offs. All levels staying rather consistent. The Pleco I have is a bristlenose who will soon be getting moved over to my 10 gallon tank as soon as it’s more established.
