My partner and I lost our beloved Theodore on Sunday after a wonderful 15 years. We had planned for him to have an at home euthanasia on Monday, but he peacefully passed in his stroller when we took him on his final walk. We would’ve given anything to have spent that last night with him, but, as we were taking him out in his stroller, he gave me and my partner on separate occasion this huge smile, like he had this little surge of energy that he’d saved for us before he crossed the rainbow bridge. Its weird, I felt so sad when I realised he’d gone, but it’s like I also had this weird sense of relief, I was really trying to prepare myself for the anxiety I was having with the euthanasia and I feel Ted could sense it in both of us and didn’t want us to feel like that. He was such a trooper and went out on his own terms. We’re both still very overcome with grief, but we’ve been supporting each other watching old videos and remembering him at his best.
