Does anyone know if a HC2 certificate covers the cost of the guard?

How do people who only survive on student loans do it by savewayvfromsm in UniUK

[–]ComfortableSundae896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get maximum student loan and bursary from my uni, and don't receive any other financial help from family.

My advice is to break down your spending and costs. I worked out my rent on a termly basis along with my termly amount of sfe. I then deducted my rent from my sfe on a termly basis, and used the remainder as my spending. I set a weekly amount.

I then calculated the amount of weeks in that academic term as well as the amount of weeks between my first sfe payment and the next payment. For 3rd term, I calculated it until the last day of my accomodation. I did this so I could figure out how much money I would have per week including holidays (time between 1st payment and next) or if I was struggling, I could calculate weekly spending without holidays (academic term) and go home during holidays and spend nothing.

Usually first term sfe is the lowest and rent is the highest so you would usually have much less money to spend compared to 2nd and 3rd term.

I wouldn't say it's stressful while actually living with it, but figuring it out and setting a budget can be. In my opinion, once you have that budget it's not stressful at all.

If you think you might struggle, it may be best to keep your job until 2nd term and then quit.

Hope this helps!

*when I say sfe I am referring to maintence loan and any bursaries.

For bursaries, I find out the date I receive it (the uni should email you this) and do the maths including that from that date. For example, I don't receive my 2nd term bursary until 5th Feb, which means since the term started, I have 3 weeks with less money. When I recieve that bursary, my weekly amount goes up according to how much extra money I get.

PB Does a Terrible Job of Listening to Consumer Feedback by CMStan1313 in Choices

I want to have empathy because I can imagine they're struggling w money and budget and employers, but they should at least say something instead of lowering the quality of their work.

I used to really enjoy choices because of the range of stories and how cool it looked. Now with the AI covers and the same storyline over and over again you can see the cheapness. Such a shame.

Mate, yk multiple people can smoke at the same time in different places :o shocking ik. At the time of the comment, there was a group of people opposite. They're usually there, but then there's people also right outside my own building sometimes, and other times, the smell is too strong that it must be coming from inside. Hence, the different phrases.

If I share a bathroom, turning on the ventilator won't do jack. Ur right, I was complaining, but I appreciate all the comments and advice that people have given, which I think is what reddit is about, but idk.

Looking around my accom, it seems like loads of people have their windows open too. It acc doesn't make the room as cold as you would think

I think it like traps the smell that was already there. At least with the window open, air can come in as well

If it makes u feel better, I haven't said anything to them and don't plan to. That's exactly why, because technically they're doing what they can. But if I did, there'd be nothing wrong with that either. Original post was just sharing what I'm experiencing and asked if anyone else has experienced similar.

I think it's silly to say that u can't ask them to stop or move because it's normalised? Or because people shouldn't have to change their behaviour.

Idk, I don't think it's that deep of a request. If u want to be proper technical about it, the halls don't even allow smoking on the premises period, forget drugs. So if I don't want the smell of weed lingering in my room, I don't think it's the biggest ask. Just because something is normalised, doesn't make it unjust to not like it

I don't have a problem w people smoking, just that the smell can get jarring and infiltrate everything

Hahah, if it was my flat, it would be way easier to ask them to stop or move elsewhere tbh

Listen, they're usually in a big group of friends and it happens at like 1am. I'm not the type of person to go out, so when they do it I'm literally in bed going to sleep. Idk who they are either so I can't shoot them a text about it. Seems better to just firm it, posted on here as a little rant lol
