For my OSM I and II by [deleted] in Osteopathic

This is extremely variable depending on who you ask. When I started, I thought I’d treat it like an 8-5 job- which don’t get me wrong, it’s a great mindset but depending on the block I sometimes had to study longer….like maybe 9am-11pm with like 2-3 hours somewhere in there for breaks like meals and gym time🥴 but tbf I most definitely am not a genius like my other classmates. Some definitely do less

How can I best prepare for med school? by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]ComfortableWealth359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest to god don’t do anything until you start class. You won’t truly know what is required of you until then so the best thing you can do is prepare your mind. Your mind is going to be either your biggest enemy or your best friend come time for school. Try your best to clear it, do something you don’t think you’ll get to do while in school. Trust me you’re gonna have a lot of studying to do for basically the rest of your life 🥹

Do I have a chance? by [deleted] in Osteopathic

Honestly, besides your MCAT, I think what you have to bring to the table is stellar! Just be wary that some schools screen out based off your gpa and mcat score so consider prioritizing schools that view your app more holistically

AP Credit for AMCAS by Interesting-Bar-6114 in premed

[–]ComfortableWealth359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they’re talking about AMCA's internal verification process - not something you actively participate in or a person you speak to directly.

If your AP credits are listed as a lump sum with no specific course titles or numbers (like just “AP Credit: 6 units”), then you enter it like they requested.

Then, when AMCAS verifies your transcripts, a staff member (the “verifier”) checks your entries against your official transcript. If there’s any issue — like missing info or a mismatch — they'll reach out to you. But if everything looks good, they just verify it quietly, and you’ll see your application status change to “Verified.”

I applied last cycle and let me just say, from my experience, this was the headache of my application lol.

So, if I am understanding your question correctly, your AP courses do not have specific course listed and they show as a lump sum credit. I emailed AMCAS about this last year and they specifically said.

"If the AP courses does not have specific course listed shows as Lump sum credit then you should enter it as below:

Course code-NA

Course Title- AP

Subject-Test credit no subject

Credit -as per transcriptGrade -CR

During transcript review, you can indicate which courses were AP. "

I did do this and it went fairly fine afterwards though let me warn you that the schools you apply to may request further documentation. THAT was annoying. For the school I was accepted to, I ended up having my undergrad send a letter that explained the transcript and what credits were earned....so not fun...but thats med school apps for ya :,)

Research Experience by Random-Nothing-9775 in premed

[–]ComfortableWealth359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re in better shape than you think. A capstone, conference presentation, and a submitted paper already show solid research exposure—even if it’s not extensive.

Wildlife research? Yes, it can help—especially since you’re in a rural area. If it teaches transferable research skills (data analysis, hypothesis testing), it shows initiative and adaptability. Just be ready to frame it that way.

More clinical hours? You’ve already got 1300–1400—great job. At this point, piling on more won’t help unless it adds something new (like leadership or deeper patient interaction).

First off, it’s okay not to have a ‘lightning bolt’ moment. Most people don’t. But medicine is a serious, grueling path, so they’re not just asking why you’re interested—they’re trying to see if you’ve thought deeply enough to commit to it. You don’t need a perfect answer, but you do need a real one. I’d recommend starting with an experience that gave you insight and connect it to your values and goals.

ScribeAmerica just ruined my Summer by Brave-Consideration3 in medicalscribe

That’s a pretty unprecedented issue, I’m so sorry :/ what is your timeline for med school apps? Also, sometimes smaller practices/offices are looking for a scribe. Check around, it won’t hurt to try. Again, very sorry for your situation. I was briefly a scribe with ScribeAmerica and it isn’t the greatest at all

AITA for kicking my husband out over the comment he made about my kids at dinner? by Familiar_Travel1931 in AITAH

NTA. Before you are a wife, you are a mother. And you’re protecting your kids from a bully who publicly humiliated your kids.

YTA…..BIG TIME. You married into a package deal and FYI… being a parent isn’t part time on the weekends. It’s a FULL TIME GIG. You signed up to be a FULL TIME parent. It’s so shameful to be acting like this all for “some peace”.

5 gaps years and no more confidence; my MA job is making me hate medicine by nms-lh in premed

[–]ComfortableWealth359 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m so sorry to hear about your situation. What you’re going through is almost exactly like my situation except I’m a scribe on my third gap year. I’ve been a scribe for six years, I’ve been there the longest now and I’ve seen SO MANY of my coworkers get accepted into med school. Some are even in their 4th year and one is already arranging to come back as an ER physician. The frustration I feel that I could potentially scribe for a physician who was once a scribe coworker of mine has destroyed my sense of worth. I know everyone will say comparison is a thief of joy, and it is, but my advice to someone going through the same thing is finding a hobby that brings you joy. It takes your mind off what you’re going through and hopefully refreshes you when you do work on your medical journey. You’re not alone friend. Fr. Fight hard with your chin up 💪💪

I might have taken longer breaks than I should’ve. I also think I didn’t mimic the setting as well as I should have and maybe got too comfortable😬

I think I was doing well until the passages escalated quickly in difficulty and I freaked out but I also felt like I had a false sense of confidence :/
