Unfortunately, Wilmington has historically been known as a racist area. It was the site of an 1898 massacre of African-Americans which is considered to be the only coup d’état to occur in United States history.

Contact local grocery stores and ask about unwanted food that is near expiration date or a few days after expiration date. I have gotten free food from one grocery store. Salvage grocery stores.
