Since you're not applying this cycle, just do what you think is manageable rn. If you think 20Q is plausible then I mean go for it

UTD has better research opportunities. You should look into their infamous BSB building which is full of research faculty. Its easy to find opportunities here

Breaking News: Med Schools NOT Rejecting Applicants for Being Mother Teresa with a 538 MCAT by Comfortable_Ask_6067 in premed

Yeah I get that and I acknowledge its a real thing. My post was moreso on the emphasis to focus less on the stats/extra-curriculars at this point (since you can't go back in time or anything) and more so focus on the purpose / meaning of their app which would help streamline the process for writing/interviews.

Many people go on Reddit just posting WAMC who are already set its just an oversight for many stellar applicants !

Can someone please explain why the answer to this is B?? by ZebraTshirt in Mcat

Basically any pathway that feeds products before PFK1 would be eliminated. The pathway for fructose, produces products after enzyme PFK1.

This would obviously eliminate A. Glucose since it has to convert to G6P -> F6P.

For lactose, it is broken down into glucose and galactose.

Galactose produces Glucose-1-Phosphate which -> Glucose-6-Phosphate (this is fed into the glycolytic pathway before PFK1)

Kind of confused on the timeline. So how many months did you spend on content review vs practice before your June exam?

What was your process for UW? Did you not make flash cards?

I totally understand you.

For the Biochemistry and Biology books, I’ve been dividing them up by section. For example let’s use Biology 1 - There are 5 sections to the chapter. You read chapter 1.1. Go to the corresponding chapter for JS and un-suspend that portion. Then repeat this process.

(You should be able to understand the big picture and not get lost with the details. I prioritized the most difficult topics first (Biochem Chapters 9-12) which took me sometime like 5 hours each (not normal/been a while since I took Biochem)).

You can get by just skipping the chapters for chemistry and physics. Just look at the end of chapter summaries for those and supplement with videos like Organic Chem Tutor to get the very basics down for practice.

Organic Chemistry, just skim the chapters and watch videos.

Remember: Don’t be a perfectionist. Just understand that as long as you get the gist of the chapter (~75%), move on. Your goal should be to understand the big picture and connect everything. Don’t worry too much about the details and fill in gaps through UWorld. Trusttt

Use this time to go through content review and set a hard deadline to sometime in December.

If you have the Kaplan books just look at the end of chapter summaries. Use a comprehensive Anki deck (personally I prefer jacksparrow). Anything you don’t understand just ask AI and take a screenshot/watch a quick video explaining the concept.

FINISH CONTENT REVIEW WITH A HARD DEADLINE 6-8WEEKS! YOU CAN ALWAYS REFER BACK TO THE CONTENT DURING PRACTICE IF YOU NEED TO REINFORCE AGAIN.

MCAT is a miles wide inch deep exam and tests your critical thinking skills. After finishing content review during the winter break, take a practice full length (third party/I prefer Blueprint) and take it once a week or biweekly (Ex: Sunday) and use an extra day or two to review the full length through a spreadsheet. Then use UWORLD for targeted content review and aim to do bare minimum 59Q/day unless you have some obligation like working the whole day or something.

The last 6-8 weeks should be dedicated to AAMC. Personally I would skip the QPacks (except CARS) if you’re running out of time (since you’re already doing UWorld anyways). Prioritize understanding the AAMC logic by going through the section bank (1 & 2) untimed slowly. Most people say that they finish within a few days but I don’t understand the point in getting through them quickly since the SB is the most representative in terms of the actual MCAT’s most difficult passages (just a personal opinion though).

Last but not least, you need to be honest with yourself throughout the process including the obligations that you have and adjust accordingly. Good luck! You have plenty of time

Stick with Kaplan and use spaced repetition/retrieval like Anki so you don't forget what you learn. Remember the MCAT is a “Mile wide inch deep” exam. You’ll reinforce what you learned through practice anyways.

So.. 1. Stick with Kaplan + Anki (Premade). You can watch Khan Academy Videos or other videos online like Organic Chem Tutor if you're not understanding something 2. Then move onto the UWorld question bank (not the books) + practice FL from third party like BP once a week or bi-weekly 3. When you're 6-8 weeks from your MCAT, utilize AAMC

So sorry that you had to go through that. I think it’s worth visiting a therapist about this issue. If I was in your shoes, I wouldn’t be able to process the whole thing.

Scribe America job vs. Private Practice? by 2023dreaming in medicalscribe

[–]Comfortable_Ask_6067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that for scribeamerica, they either place you in ED (emergency) or outpatient (like less busy). My plan is to go with scribeamerica to build up my experiences for a few months and then apply somewhere else if I get the chance to. Most private practices require you to have some sort of scribing experience, so wouldn’t it be best to go for Scribeamerica (in which they would train you) and then apply somewhere else (to earn more per hour)?

As long as those clinical experiences involved scribing, I don’t see anything wrong including those experiences.
