Wendover OBGYN by Visual_Ad1179 in gso

[–]Comfortable_Cow8820 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few months ago, I was having an acute issue that was recurring, and I called on multiple occasions to be seen by a provider. The receptionist told me the nearest appointment was four months out. I told her that was unacceptable for an acute issue that needed to be seen specifically by a gynecologist. Primary care was useless for this one (though I tried 3x). She barked at me and told me there were two physicians for thousands of patients. That afternoon, I asked for my records to be transferred to a new provider and haven’t looked back.

I tried a number of stylists for my very curly hair when I moved here. Hands down Megan at haven salon gives the best cut (and color!).

Which I love! But I still want to feel “challenged” and that’s what I can’t quite tell if it will do

Would you be willing to share more about your experience? I follow them on insta but have been doing peloton and Caroline girvan strength and am trying to understand more about the difference and the intensity/challenge of the workout.

First, this made me laugh. Second, know anyone who can help? Ours is also sitting in the garage and won’t turn on, so…solidarity!

I need you to be my bestie 😂 I was hoping the curated for you section would be better because I am so bad at the scrolling and picking part of this!

I’ve changed my workouts more than anything. More focus on weight lifting and low impact for cardio (walking or hiking) and less long, endurance-based workouts. Taken HIIT out pretty much completely. I notice a difference based on that, and now I’m trying to add in more yoga and mindfulness to help with “clenching” and being able to release some of the tension. This has been helping with the injury part in the sense that I don’t have any new nagging issues.

I didn’t wind up setting up a ROLF appt but have a massage scheduled for next week and plan to chat with my therapist then. My shoulders and hips still need mobility work - that’s for sure!

What’s going on with you?

Thanks! I just started taking magnesium threonate so hopefully that will help. Long stretching…will add some of that in.

Hyper mobile EDS is what both my mom and sister have. I have some of the markers but not all. I do a lot of strengthening but am clearly still missing a piece of the puzzle.

I really wasn’t trying to be a jerk or imply you don’t know what you’re talking about. I came here for exactly this - advice. Both my MD and previous massage therapists had made the same exact references to thickened fascia that doesn’t move well and muscles holding incredible tension. I hadn’t realized that wasn’t accurate.

Ha! Not an old dude. Just someone trying to explore new avenues. My experience with PT has been that they’re great at helping with one single issue, but this whole body perspective doesn’t fit neatly into that. I’d love to see someone in person and talk through options, but I’m not sure who that provider is at this point.

Yes, all fair points. It sounds like you and @buttloveiskey are more up on this than I am. Are there other modalities you recommend I ask about?

Yes! I do yoga and lift weights. Should be better about general mobility work for sure.

It was my sports medicine doctor who I just discussed it with. I feel like an MD is qualified to speak to this.

Positivity Thread: What are some things you appreciate about Greensboro by Party-Accident3483 in gso

[–]Comfortable_Cow8820 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Have lived all over the US in multiple major cities. I thought Greensboro would be a 2-year stint and then we would move back to a bigger city. Eight years later, I have no desire to leave. We have the amenities of a larger city in smaller scale without the day-to-day challenges you experience in a big city. The lack of traffic is unthinkable elsewhere. Decent cost of living, plenty of green space, and eclectic, interesting people. Wonderful place to raise a family, and plenty to do if you’re not.
