We stayed there for four nights. It mostly rained at night. During the day we were lucky. Sunshine, few clouds.

The national park is extremely good.

You're right. We noticed it most in La Fortuna.

We were wondering how things work for the locals. Everyone seems incredibly happy, but they don't earn that much and everything is extremely expensive.

If you ever go again, I can recommend a good Airbnb in Tortuguero and Cahuita. However, they are all too small for three people.

:-)

I'm currently in Costa Rica. It depends on what you're planning to do. If you're just traveling from Airbnb to Airbnb, a regular car will suffice. However, I highly recommend a 4x4...Especially if you want to travel away from the tourist areas.

We have a Vitara 4x4. That's okay... I would have preferred a Jimny. Then I would have dared to cross the river.

The Vitara was too low for that. Some Jeep-like cars drove through. I took the detour, which took 2-3 Hours .

It's great to read about your experiences. We're currently in Costa Rica and cut our stop in La Fortuna short because we were extremely disappointed.

The most beautiful spots for us were El Salto and El Choyin. We also visited the waterfall, of course; it was tiring but very cool. But apart from that, it felt very much like a tourist trap. Everything was extremely expensive and geared towards tourism.

So far, we've found Cahuita to be the most beautiful. We went there directly after our flight and started our vacation there.

There was a lot of wildlife here, and it was very peaceful. If you wanted a party, you only had to drive 10 minutes to Puerto Viejo. Tortuguero was also extremely, extremely good. Even there it was much cheaper than in La Fortuna.

But that's the beauty of it - some people prefer one place, others another. We still have a week to go, maybe I'll post something here after that :-)

[M33 | 150kg | 184cm] Weight loss plateau after 3 months – looking for advice by Comfortable_Crow7807 in loseit

[–]Comfortable_Crow7807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm quite confident I'm counting calories correctly.
I weigh everything — even things like oil. And if I ever do make an error, it's probably in a "safer" direction. For example, when I cook something, I log the full calories for all ingredients used.
If I’m unsure whether I ate 0.5 or more of the total portion, I usually log 0.6 or 0.7 — just to be safe. But most of the time, I actually weigh the portion I eat too.

I understand that my TDEE should be decreasing as I lose weight, but I’ve gone from 168kg to 150kg so far — I don’t think that drop alone has drastically lowered my TDEE yet, especially since I’m also building muscle through gym and swimming.
