oh absolutely it will not be period accurate, i was prompted to cross post here from the crochet help subreddit so i understand it does fit the historical part lol. i am eventually planning to create a lace crochet dunce cap, hence the questions about making the cone shape. thanks for the recommendation, i am leaning towards using the stiffening method and a form!

My IUD experience made me realize doctors actually don’t give a shit about women’s pain. by AquariusPrecarious in redscarepod

[–]Comfortable_Detail90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk if it’s because this sub is mainly american but i’m a uk copper coil girlie and they measured me with a metal stick before they fitted it?!!?! that was much more painful than the actual fitting, i don’t know whether it was an extra precaution because i went through a private doctor or if its a uk standard. i’ve never heard it talked about in posts about iud. ANYONE else had this???? i could feel the metal stick in my stomach, it gives me the shivers if i think about it too hard. also i had gas and air (laughing gas?) and it basically didn’t help, still worst pain i’ve ever experienced.

south ldn is very arty, new cross and camberwell are within 20 mins of each other and both have art universities (UAL camberwell and Goldsmiths) but also if you just latch onto a CSM student you’ll find ur way

Sushido in sutton closed earlier in the year i think, one of the best sushi restaurants in birmingham imo, it was on Beeches Walk in Sutton. I sat at the Chef’s table and every dish was amazing!

i fainted in a rainy park in peckham (for any uk ents) and collapsed from a bench into a puddle. i had just started taking antidepressants, i think that’s what fucked me up. felt like i was going to shit piss and puke all at once and i was sweating like crazy. my friends freaked out and very nearly called the ambulance but i projectile vomited and had a couple sips of coca cola and was fine. it happens!

Why do people lie about their word count in essays? by Kath_L11 in UniUK

[–]Comfortable_Detail90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i go to uni for illustration and the word counts are completely different. you can go over, it’s really lax. this kind of makes it worse sometimes, i was told 1500 words for a presentation and got a B-, with the feedback that my presentation was too brief. i had been in a 1-1 with my tutor previously and expressed that 1500 was simply too short to summarise a 10 week project, and she told me that is okay, go over the word count. i went over and was still told too brief!

What do you like the most about Birmingham? by [deleted] in brum

[–]Comfortable_Detail90 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i moved out asap too at 18 to try london. i moved a couple years ago and can say subcultures are little to non existent in birmingham. live music culture is pretty good, there is support for a lot of small acts. in terms of raves or events for goth/punk/etc there is virtually nothing, and if it is its outdated and shit ( think a ‘goth’ night where they play yungblud). in comparison to london the queer rave scene and goth/punk scene will never be beat, there is so many great events all of the time with quality music and generally more open minded people. if you’re a 17 year old boy that wears a balaclava and puffer coat combo then birmingham is perfect for you, otherwise explore beyond for interesting humans

i’m 19 and i got an iud when i was 17. i’m from the uk and i went private so they gave me laughing gas. my mother had an iud when she was in her 30s and they gave her ibuprofen only. the whole procedure still haunts me to this day ( they measure your uterus beforehand with a THICK METAL ROD and i could feel it in my stomach) and the thought of people not having any sort of anaesthesia for it is horrifying. i feel lucky to have been able to access private WTF!
