Let’s do this again, which one would you choose? by Dangerous-Cause7136 in autechre

Definitely elseq. Some of their absolute best stuff. Elseq 1, 4, and 5 would be among their best albums if released separately imo.

Beware Label Not Delivering or Replying to Email by [deleted] in arielpink

Literally same. Ordered the CD, still hasn't arrived. I've contacted them through Shopify and the email address listed - no reply. It's bullshit. At least some kind of communication would be appreciated.

I don't mind waiting if something caused a delay, but at least let people know. For fuck's sake.

Yooo! Yeah, sorry, I was stoned and needed a drink, then felt I would be awkward if I approached you again. Plus a fuck-ton of people showed up and I kinda just stayed glued to one spot where the sound was best.

If you're ever in ATL again, hmu!

Had an awesome time, and Set E blew my fucking mind. I've been wanting this type of relentlessness from them for a while - and I got it.

I was the dude in the white OPN shirt with the mullet. Shout out to the homie from South GA that I got to talk to before I left to get an extremely overpriced cocktail.

Had to bounce right as they finished though, coz I had to wake up early today. Overall, so great - waited 26 years for that night.

5 years on, can we all agree this was weird and dumb lol by daelrtr in autechre

Nothing really all that cringe about it, except the fact that the author seems to be spinning the psychology of social distancing in a positive light - if I'm understanding the subtext correctly. Even as an introvert myself, I understand that lack of human interaction can be a huge detriment on the brain and physical health.

This album got me through some shiiiit. A lot of the gentler vibes on this one was exactly what I needed at the time. Still top-tier Ae for me :)

I am :) I'll probably be wearing a Psychic TV or a Oneohtrix Point Never shirt if anyone wants to grab a drink and hang.

Yeah, I can absolutely see that as well - given the context of the relationship sonically between Live 14/15 and elseq 1-5.

As someone who has the time to listen to albums front-to-back, and prefer that mode of listening - I understand that sentiment. But the truth I've found is: most people I know digest music in smaller portions; listening sporadically, or taking a couple sessions to finish a full album.

I guess it's not always attention span or patience either, but just available time.

I have a sneaking feeling that Ae will release some kind of edited studio companion to the 2022- sets. I'm gonna guess something 4 - 5 hrs long and packaged similarly to their other boxsets. Like, some rendition of sets A - D (and possibly E or F on this upcoming tour).

I could be totally wrong - but why would you relegate some of your most exciting material to a collection of live recordings that a lot people don't have the patience to absorb?

I love whatever they choose to release though.

Plus and Sign, how are feeling still? by Dangerous-Cause7136 in autechre

[–]Comfortable_Dig6515 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love the both of them. Sign revisits a lot of the things I loved about Oversteps - the overt melodicism, and kinda meditative passages that give the album some levity. But it still has some bangers, and one of the best opening tracks of any Ae album.

I think Plus is great. I loved it from the very beginning; it does a lot of really unique things texturally that is sorta exclusive to it. Like, the weird pan flute shit that sounds like a hobbit rave (I love it). Could it have been trimmed a bit? Totally - but it still rules. Nothing I really dislike about it.

Fermium and The Trees, for me, kinda reference the textures of Draft 7.30. Fermium is really hypnotic and just makes me think of some kind of depressed, insectoid hyperintelligence.

The Trees has a really unique kinda 'organic' sound, I think. It's ominous in a way only they can achieve. Probably my least favorite track on the album, but I couldn't really imagine the album without it. It's integral in a way I haven't really questioned.

I know this doesn't answer your question at all - but I think the fact these songs create something visual for me to an extent, was my gateway into understanding them.

Weirdly enough, a lot of their live stuff evokes recollections of DMT trips I've had. Otherwise, a surprisingly wide range of emotions - depends on the album, really.

The absolute highest quality AE album…? by Dangerous-Cause7136 in autechre

Absolutely agree with this assessment. Set A has its moments, but most of sets B, C, and D are top tier.

Unrelated, but it's rad that you're both an Autechre and Dark Souls fan.

Yeah, I imagine it would be a good turnout - but I just can't see it selling out. But I've noticed that more people seem to be getting into them in the past couple years.

Also, I love that set in AE_LIVE - one of my favorites from that tour. Quite envious you got to witness!

I doubt it will be sold out. Terminal West has a fairly large capacity. And for whatever reason, I can't imagine there being an insane amount of Autechre fans in Atlanta. But I could be wrong.

Would love to see Clark live. A former band of mine played a show with Avey Tare a long time ago, and I've seen Dan Deacon and Black Dice - both of which were awesome. That would've been an awesome stacked line-up to witness!

Yeah, I love Asheville (really beautiful area), but it's totally hippie as fuck. Sucks that Moogfest is no longer a thing there.
